Overwhelmed boxer dad hilariously finds out what parenting is really like

When dogs have puppies, it’s a time of joy for everyone, especially proud doggie dads. But a dog’s litter is sometimes really big. Take a boxer, for instance. The dog breed usually has eight puppies in a litter on average.

Dealing with so many puppies can get overwhelming, as shown in one video of a boxer dad playing with his pups.

In a video, which has over 2.9 million views, the boxer dad, named Reno, is out on his owner’s deck. Around him are gathered his litter of pups, all eight of them. As he watches them gather around, one can only wonder what is going through his head.

“You mean these are all mine?” Reno is probably thinking as his offspring nip at his heels. “How in the heck did I end up with so many kids … at the same time?”

As for the puppies, they seem determined to play with their dad. It has already been a few weeks, so you would think they would all be used to him by now. But they all seem so curious about poor, old dad. They all gather around him, and he tries to scoot away.

Of course, the curious pups continue to follow him wherever he goes, all the while sniffing at him just to make sure it is their pops.

Dad has a tactic though. Leaping into the air, he lands on the other side of the pups. This gains him a brief respite as the puppies try to determine where he has gone. But his momentary victory is short-lived as the puppies soon figure out where he has gone and the chase is back on.

Being a gentle dad

Chances are that Reno truly loves to play with his offspring. He just realizes how small they are so he is holding back and trying to not be too rough with them. In truth, he is probably trying to avoid interacting too roughly with them for fear of accidentally hurting one of his puppies.

He truly is a great dad as he spins around while his puppies chase him. They all seem to love it and can’t get enough. Eventually, he stops long enough for the puppies to start climbing on him. Before you know it, they are all back at it again.

Of course, Reno’s owner is standing by laughing while all this is going on. Eventually, though, Reno does have to give his pups a stern warning as they start to get a little too rough. It works as the puppies stop momentarily to see what is going on. This cause’s Reno’s owner to tell him to be nice.
