The Weimaraner is a dog breed loved for its enthusiasm and playfulness.

Known as the perpetual two-year-old of dogs, they are energetic, hyper animals that seem to never grow up. They need constant attention and engagement from their owners, and if they don’t get it…

…well, they will get it.

Gus the Weimaraner is a perfect example of this attention-seeking quality.

With his big, adorable eyes and the best patience he can muster, he has his mind on just one thing, being noticed.

The Weimaraner Club of America states,

“It’s hard to generalize about the Weimaraner personality, but a core trait that runs in the veins of all of them is that they are people-centric. They love the company of humans to the point that they will follow you around your house like a second shadow. Weimaraners are always underfoot, curious, wanting to be involved in your activities.”

As a little experiment, Gus’ owner wanted to find out what would happen if Gus didn’t immediately get all of the attention he wanted.

Usually, when Gus hops up on his back legs and puts his front legs in the lap of his owner, he gets a response. In this experiment, however, Gus got ignored.

Gus doesn’t think it’s very funny. He doesn’t want to cause a scene but clearly doesn’t know how to handle being ignored.

As Gus stands there confused, his owner teases him with quick looks. He grows more impatient and confused.

Nothing seems to work for more than a second.

With no pets or “Good boys,” Gus goes with a new tactic.

He tries looking away, and even towards the camera, but he can’t manage to do so for long. The silent treatment game isn’t working for Gus, and he quits all too quickly.

You can tell Gus is serious when he lifts his right paw and places it on his owner’s shoulder.

He figures that if the silent treatment won’t work, maybe the opposite will.

A bark comes out and wins him a disappointed glance, but that doesn’t satisfy him. He then reaches a state of total confusion and returns to the floor for a final attempt at getting what he wants.

Soon enough, his patience runs out and he strolls away, frustrated, but still fixated on getting some loving attention.

His next target becomes the camera lady, who doesn’t hesitate to engage him.

She really gets his attention once she starts whispering to him,

“Do you want food? Are you hungry? What do you want? Go get your dish.”

Gus, still confused, would never turn down food.

He paces about the kitchen to walk off his frustration, and you can see in his eyes that he is relieved that someone is finally looking at him and talking to him.

This funny video quickly went viral and has been watched over nine million times. The video also has over four thousand comments. Such as,

“Those are the sweetest most expressive eyes, you can see the love, trust and innocence in them. He’s a great looking dog as well. Beautiful coat.”

“Man: looks away for a second Dog: k, we are divorcing”

“Oh the way he puts his hand on your shoulder is so sweet.”
