Owners fill a piñata with a dog’s favorite item — and his reaction is adorable

Many dogs have a favorite item, such as a favorite toy or other objects that they like to play with. Whenever dogs have their favorite item to play with, they tend to focus on nothing else. In many cases, their “favorite things” make for a great distraction or can act as a motivational factor when trying to get a dog to obey commands.

One dog recently got the shock of his life when he was surprised with his favorite item.

For a dog named Ruger, his favorite items are tennis balls. He is a healthy and happy dog who loves to play outdoors, especially with his family. And he is absolutely obsessed with tennis balls, according to his mom, Mindy Reminga.

“He is very obsessed with tennis balls,” Reminga told The Dodo. “There isn’t a moment when he doesn’t want to play fetch or have one in his mouth.”

A surprise for Ruger

As a surprise for their pet, Ruger’s family decided to fill a piñata with tennis balls. So, buying a case of the yellow, bouncy balls, the family set the plan in motion. They had no idea how he would react.

The idea was to let him break the piñata open and see where things went from there. They were in for quite a show.

As the day approached, Ruger’s family filled the custom piñata with the tennis balls and hung it from a beam in their home. To open it, they left a pull cord underneath that Ruger could grasp in his teeth.

In a video of the incident, Ruger jumps up and pulls on the cord.

Before you know it, tennis balls are raining down on top of Ruger. At first, he’s so surprised. He just stands there looking flabbergasted and trying to decide which way to go first.

“He didn’t know what to do at first,” Reminga said in a caption below the video, which she posted on her TikTok.

So far, the video has over 569,000 likes on the social media site.

Soon, Ruger was scrambling around trying to grab the tennis balls, first going one way and then another. Soon, he is joined by his doggie sibling who just had to get in on the fun.

“I think he was stunned and couldn’t fathom what to do,” Reminga said. “‘Which one he should grab first?’ If he had a bigger mouth, he would try to pick them all up if he could.”

Reminga hopes that the video will inspire other pet owners to shower their pets with the items that they love the most. For Ruger, it was a very special day!

“All animals deserve special treatment once in a while,” Reminga said.
