This fire rescue’s entry into The Git Up Challenge is one of the best yet

First responders around the country are showing their fun-loving sides in their downtime by competing against one another in something called The Git Up Challenge.

The challenge took over the Internet in the summer of 2019 – in the midst of other dance and lip-synching challenges – and it has yet to cool down.

It was all inspired by Blanco Brown’s song The Git Up – and he’s even made his own dance tutorial to encourage the challenge’s (and his song’s) popularity.

Now, millions of people have posted their best attempts to replicate the moves.

It started on TikTok, but videos have popped up on Facebook and YouTube as well. But our favorites are not the individual competitors, but rather the challenges between police and fire departments to see who can pull off the best show.

One of the newest entries into the challenge is from the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, a group of fit and fun men and women who used the opportunity to raise money for the United Way Campaign.

As Blanco Brown’s song begins, dancers are asked to get “real loose” – and these firefighters have some acrobatic ways of prepping their bodies for some boogying.

As they follow the moves (which are spelled out in the lyrics), they even cut to the inside of an emergency vehicle for some lip-synching and use a rescued mom and prop baby as background.

According to their website, the Palm Beach Fire Rescue is one of the largest fire departments in the state of Florida.

“…and we respond to just about every emergency you can imagine – fire, medical, car accidents, hazardous materials or conditions, plane crashes, aircraft emergencies, presidential motorcade details, chemical spills, fuel spills, water rescues, animal rescues, hurricane/disaster planning, preparation and response, & more!”

And if there’s a dance-off emergency, it seems that they’re on top of that as well!

With 140,000 calls to 911 each year, we’ve got to give them props for finding time to put together this video!

And knowing that everything looks cooler when you bring out the chainsaws, they even get some of the more dangerous props out for their performance.

And, let’s face it, if you have a fire hose handy, you can’t enter the challenge without the obligatory “rain” shot.

With over 1500 employees, the Fire Rescue no doubt had plenty of volunteers to be in the video – including some of the bosses!

After all, it’s for charity, so everyone has to play their part – even if that’s dancing (or a light-hearted jump in the air so your employees don’t judge your hoe-down abilities).

They even got the dive team in on the action.

Can you imagine of hard it is to dance in flippers?

And while not all challenge videos feature women, Palm Beach Fire Rescue’s puts them front and center – in fact, it looks like a pretty even mix, which is great to see because women save lives too!
