Baby panda hilariously gets reprimanded by mama after sneaking out and being returned by worker
On the endangered species list, the giant panda bears in China fascinate many. Best of all is when animal lovers around the world can get a glimpse into the usually hidden lives of the species. One such place that affords a view of this special breed of animal is the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in Chengdu, Sichuan, China.
The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda
Founded in 1987, the center focuses on the conservation, research, and breeding of the giant panda. This means that they have a selection of the species at their breeding facility. As a part of the base’s research are some behind the scene looks at the lives of the pandas kept there, through a series of videos.
A wayward panda cub
One such video that is getting attention is of a panda cub wandering outside of its enclosure. Named Cheng Lan, the cub is shown crawling across the concrete floor outside of its cage.
Up to no good
Nearby, an employee at the base is busy cleaning the area with a hose. The woman seems relatively unconcerned with the cub’s wandering as she finishes her work.
Cheng La’s mother seems very concerned
Meanwhile, Cheng La’s mother seemed very concerned with his little misadventure. Behind the bars of the cage, his mother, Cheng Da, seeks to get a hold of her wayward cub.
Just out of reach
Reaching out to grab him and bring him back to safety, she is unable to reach him. Cheng La is barely out of reach, which means his mother is left to worry about what might happen to him.
Of course, the worker eventually notices Cheng Da’s plight. Sympathizing with the worried mother, the worker scoops Cheng La up and carries him back to his mother.
A return to his cage
As she pushes the tiny cub through the bars of the cage, his mother seems to visibly calm, though now she has a bone to pick with her rebellious child.
The cub gets a scolding
Cheng Da immediately grabs ahold of her son’s fur, just like a concerned human mom who has just gotten her child back after a time away. The panda mom then drags her naughty child back into the cage and blocks him from view with her body.
The whole incident was captured on video
The video of the incident has been viewed over 41 million times on YouTube, showing the public’s interest in this unique species of animal. It also shows just how much like us that animals can be.
