Panther cub abandoned by mom adopted by woman and her adoring rottweiler
Panthers are not generally considered an animal you would want to keep as a pet. They don’t typically hunt humans but will attack if they feel threatened or concerned, however.
For the most part, black panthers choose to leave us alone and we choose to leave them alone as well.
This is the story of a kind human who adopted a black panther that had been abandoned by its mother.
It’s also the story of a sweet rottweiler who accepted the panther as a member of the pack.

Meet Luna the Panther.
Luna was born in a Siberian zoo and was rejected by her mother at birth. This meant that her chances of survival were small.
She needed constant care and to be given the milk that her mother was unwilling to provide. Luna would find her true family, however, and they would provide her with what her biological family would not.
Luna was adopted by a wonderful woman who had experience raising large animals. She purchased the panther from the zoo and took her home to care for her.

Luna meets Venza.
When the woman brought Luna home, she was introduced to Venza, a rottweiler that would be her new sibling.
The woman introduced the two gradually in order to be sure neither would act aggressively towards the other.

A beautiful friendship blooms.
The panther and rottweiler soon became the best of friends. Luna and Venza would play together, go for walks together, groom one another, and just generally be a couple of pals going through life’s adventures together.
Luna the panther became completely domesticated and began living her life in a similar fashion to a house cat, albeit a very large house cat.

Luna becomes internet famous.
Luna already weighed 20.9 kg at 9 months old. She’s still got a lot of growing to do!
Luna also became internet famous when her human mother created an Instagram account to document her story.

In one post, the woman noted that while Luna does many things a typical house cat does, one thing she is not able to do is purr.
“The larynx of Panthers is not adapted to purring, but they can make the famous loud and rude roar,” the woman wrote. “Luna speaks clearly and insistently when hungry, and grumbles when puzzled or dissatisfied. Once we had a chance to hear her angry roar. We were returning from a walk and a dog ran out to meet us, Luna ROARED at him so that he forgot where he was going and who he was!”

Is it a good idea to keep a panther as a pet?
Absolutely not. It is not a good idea to keep a panther as a pet. In most places, it is also illegal.
In this particular case, however, Luna had been rejected by her mother in captivity. Her chances of survival at all were small.
That Luna has found a wonderful life with her human mother and rottweiler sibling is truly amazing.

Caring for Luna will cost a lot of money.
Just feeding Luna will be a significant expense. This woman and her rottweiler seem up to the challenge, however, and they will continue updating everyone on their story through Luna’s Instagram page.
