It’s sad because some people use dogs only for their own benefit. They use them for labor, and once these poor animals can no longer perform their duties, their cruel owners will torture them or worse, abandon them.

These helpless animals are being maltreated, beaten, starved to death, tortured, and dumped out of nowhere like trash. It is also one of the many reasons for animal homelessness.

That’s exactly what happened to this dog named Avellana.

She was abandoned at a shelter by her heartless owner.

Avellana was previously owned by a hunter. She was used as an assistant since dogs are good at hunting because of their unparalleled sense of sight, smell, and hearing.

However, when fate turned bitter on her, she got sick and lost her mobility. Sadly, her owner didn’t care at all about her health and well-being. Instead, she was tortured, and eventually, her owner cast her away from home.

Luckily, Avellana found her way to the Galgos del Sol Animal Rescue in Spain.

The rescue center was founded by Tina Solera back in 2007 and they have already rescued over 250 dogs! It’s definitely the best temporary home for abandoned and abused dogs like Avellana.

According to the veterinarians’ findings, the dog can only lift her head and couldn’t move her legs. They also said that she’s already been in such a condition for quite a while.

There was also an inflammation all over her nervous system!

But despite all these, the rescue team was determined to make Avellana walk again.

They were all hopeful that one day, the then abused dog would be back to her normal life. To do that, all the best from their team joined forces to make this dream a reality.

Patience, dedication, knowledge, tools, treatment, and medication – they all have it! They knew it was going to be a bumpy journey but they were all fired up and ready to give their best shot.

The treatment went smoothly because Avellana was so cooperative. She never showed aggression and discomfort while doing her physical exercises and therapies.

She regularly had walks outside the shelter for some fresh air and also met other dogs. The team believed that seeing lively dogs would highly motivate Avellana.

Nobody gave up on Avellana, especially herself.

She’s quite a fighter, she possessed this undying spirit within her! Above all, her positive attitude made everything easier not only for her but for the entire rescue team as well.

Soon enough, she was able to move her legs by herself. Eventually, she’s then able to take a step or two! Days went by and progress was starting to develop on her case. She started to move her legs little by litten until one day…

She’s back on her feet once again!

After all those restless days of training and exercises, finally, brave Avellana was able to stand, walk, and run again! With no support and no help, all by herself!

After her complete recovery, she was then put up for adoption. As expected, it didn’t take long before someone rings the shelter. A kind lady named Anne called Galgos del Sol Animal Rescue and asked if she could be dog’s new mom.

Soon, Anne took Avellana to her new forever home. Now, she’s back to being a normal playful dog, and not only that because she also met her instant dog siblings.

From being paralyzed and abandoned, Avellana is once again back to being alive. She will surely create fun memories with her new family and we can’t wait to see what’s next for her.
