Photographer beautifully captures newborn twin’s short life with heart-stirring photos
Lyndsay and Matthew Brentlinger felt it was a miracle when they welcomed newborn baby twins into this world. As most parents feel, it was a dream to meet their little babies.
It was a little more special for them, however.
The couple had been informed by doctors leading up to the birth that their son would likely be stillborn.
He had heart abnormalities and was not expected to survive. He came out crying like a healthy baby boy, however, something that surprised the couple and their doctors. Lyndsay and Matthew named him William.
William was not expected to live very long due to his heart abnormalities.
The couple was just happy they were able to share some time with him, however. Their little girl Reagan was perfectly healthy.
“I was so happy they were finally here and that Will was stable. But I was also scared of when I would lose him,” Lyndsay told the Huffington Post.
A friend came up with the idea to do a photoshoot to capture the short time they had with William.
They contacted local photographer Lindsey Brown of Lindsey Brown Photography. Brown made sure to clear her schedule to visit the family.
“I knew immediately I had to do this for them. How could anyone with a heart say no to that?” Brown said.
The results were simply magical.
Brown really did a masterful job and created something the family will have for a lifetime.
“I could not believe how perfect they both looked,” Brown said to CNN.
“”William was extremely alert, as if he was trying to take it all in, while little Reagan slept and barely opened her eyes. It was extremely bittersweet the entire time I was there.”
William’s life only lasted 11 days.
Still, the family was thrilled to have had that long with him.
“They were the happiest 11 days of my life,” Matthew said.
The photoset was the perfect way to capture that small moment in time when their family was all together.
The couple became emotional upon first seeing the images.
“I cried the first time I looked at them. I still cry sometimes They are beautiful and he is beautiful. In some of them, you can see he is wide awake with his big beautiful eyes. It’s something we will definitely cherish,” Lyndsay shared about the photos.
Nothing in life lasts forever and some things are gone before we are able to truly appreciate them. This family knows that more than most. They cherished the time they had with both their twins and thanks to the amazing photoshoot, they can always go back and relive those 11 days.
“The days with both of our babies at home together were amazing. We tried our best to focus on enjoying the time together and creating memories. We were able to do this and felt like God blessed us with the time to get to know our son,” Lyndsay said to Today.
