Pit bull can’t stop chatting up new mama after being rescued from shelter

One of the hardest truths a dog-lover has to face in life is that not all dogs get to live out a happy life. This is particularly true if a dog happens to be a pit bull. Then, the odds of getting a normal, discrimination-free, happy-go-lucky life are drastically cut. This is one awful fact of life that pit bull Maisy knows all too well.

Having lived the first few years of her life stuck behind the confines of an outdoor kennel, now the pit bull loves chatting up her new mom that rescued her from a life of solitude.

Maisy’s first owners only wanted her for breeding purposes. Thankfully, though, things didn’t quite pan out the way they’d hoped. Upset that they couldn’t use the pup to make more money as breeding stock, the family decided to have the sweet pit bull put down.

At this point, Maisy’s owners kept her locked up in an outdoor kennel with little to no human interaction. The sweet pit bull was left lonely and confused.

“At that point, they were like, ‘Well, she’s a waste of money to feed. She’s so ugly, nobody’s gonna want her. We’ll just put her down.’” says Maisy’s new human, Marisa Elbert, in an interview with The Dodo.

Thankfully for Maisy, that’s when a friend of her first family stepped up to help the pup out. They offered to take the pit bull to a shelter in hopes she would be adopted.

As it turns out, fate brought Maisy to the shelter where her new human would find her. The day the little pit bull was surrendered to the shelter, her photo was posted to social media, where Marisa Elbert first saw her.

Marisa was going through one of the hardest trials in her own life at that time.

Not only had she lost her beloved dog recently, but she was also dealing with the unexpected loss of both of her parents, as well. Much like Maisy, Marisa was feeling all alone in the world. That’s when Marisa’s close, concerned friend tagged her beneath Maisy’s picture. She was hopeful that her friend might find comfort in a new, furry companion.

Sure enough, Marisa went down to Maisy’s shelter and fell in love with the adorable pit bull on the spot.

That’s when Marisa learned just how much Maisy loves to talk! In fact, the pit bull is constantly making little “woo-ing” noises. She loves chatting it up with mom, and Marisa loves to talk back to her in sweet, upbeat cooing voices. She says that it’s Maisy’s chatty nature that made her want to adopt the pittie so badly in the first place.

“Maisy’s woo-ing was something that made me adopt her. She does it when she’s extremely happy or excited. She’s so chatty and we talk all the time,” Marisa says.

The best part about the pit bull’s bond with her new human is that it was more or less instant!

“We have conversations throughout the day. It’s hilarious. The first day when I brought her home, we went down the driveway and I threw some balls for her and she was woo-ing on the way up, woo-ing on the way down. She was just so happy. It’s like she knew she was home,” Marisa recalls of their first day home together.

Marisa believes 100% that she met Maisy as a result of divine appointment from her late parents and pit bull.

Maisy has managed to help her new human heal through the pain and heartache of all the losses of her loved ones. Her presence is a constant reminder to Marisa that she is never alone in this world. Maisy has even developed a sensitivity to her new human’s emotions. She knows when mom is depressed or heartbroken, and the sweet little pittie is there to pick up the pieces. Every single one of them.

As for Maisy, just as anyone could expect, it took some time for the pit bull to get used to being treated like family.

Being so accustomed to being left alone outside, there are certain perks to having a loving forever family that the pittie just wasn’t used to. Getting to live indoors and have playtime and snuggles with family are among them.

According to Marisa, it took some time before Maisy got used to being fed on a regular basis. She also had to get used to receiving affection, and even toys.

Now Maisy has had a chance to get used to the good life, the little pit bull is charming all the members of her new family.

In addition to soothing her new mama’s fears and worries, she has also won over Marisa’a cat, Motor. The two unlikely companions love cozying up on each other to bask in the sun or snuggle on mom.

Maisy also became fast friends with her human’s two horses. According to Marisa, she’s never been shy around them. She loves going down to feed them, and when she isn’t trying to kiss or play with them, she’s curling up for an afternoon snooze in their stalls.

Full of energy, if Maisy doesn’t burn it off playing with the horses and Motor, she’ll get it out of her system tearing through the house at the speed of light. Marisa doesn’t mind, though. She’s just happy her new furbaby finally knows she’s home.
