Pit bull wakes up owner and leads her to her unconscious son – now being called a hero

Pit bulls often have an unfair and untrue reputation. They are viewed as aggressive and are banned in some places. This is due in part to stories of attacks, bad behavior, and damaging bites. Pit bulls get this bad reputation due to their notoriety as fighting dogs. For the most part, they are only aggressive when taught to be by irresponsible owners. One pit bull is helping to dispel the myths surrounding the breed.

Ember lives with the Daniels family in Monroe, Ohio, who adopted him from Adore-A-Bull rescue. The organization had rescued Ember off of the streets when he was just a puppy. Fortunately, the Daniels decided to give him a second chance as a member of their family.

After being adopted, Ember paid the Daniels back in a big way. The family’s 10-year-old son, Tre, had become especially close with the pit bull. Ember was always looking out for his young friend. The two could often be found playing together outside and inside the home, and even slept together.

So, when Tre’s mom, Tracy, woke up to see Ember by her bedside, she knew something was wrong. At first, she was confused. Ember was making a strange, low grumbling sound. She had never heard the pit bull make this sound before. She immediately got up and followed Ember to the bathroom.

Once there she found Tre inside of the bathtub, unresponsive. He lay in the tub, half in and half out, with his head fully extended back. Tre had suffered from a seizure and had fallen into the tub in the process. Ember had alerted Tracy to this and possibly saved Tre from death.

Tracy called 911 and Tre was rushed to the hospital by the paramedics. Thankfully, he was okay. The situation could have been much worse if not for the actions of Ember, who is being hailed as a hero. The family hopes that Ember’s actions can paint a different picture of pit bulls as caring dogs who can contribute to any family they are a part of.

Seizure Dogs and what they do

People who have seizures can get service animals specially trained to detect their condition. Often these service animals have been trained to alert others when their owners have a seizure. Some might lie next to their owners to prevent injury during a seizure and to even put themselves between their owners and the floor to break their fall upon having a seizure.
