Pit bull lets pregnant stray cat stay in his dog house, then looks after her babies
Pit bulls don’t have the best reputation. They are often taken in by the wrong sorts of owners, who like their “matcho” image and raise them to be aggressive and unfriendly.
But when a pit bull has had a kind, loving upbringing, he’s just like any other dog in this world: loyal, caring, empathetic, and respectful to all living beings around him.
One pit bull who’s here to prove that a dog’s stereotype rarely lives up to his true personality is Hades.

Living in Mexico with his dad Juan José P. Flores, Hades is kind and gentle. He picked up these traits from his dad, who would always make sure to leave out food for the stray cat in his neighborhood.

Flores was keen to give the cat a proper home, but she was too wild, and preferred to spend her time outdoors. So Flores did the next best thing: made sure she had enough food to survive.

This routine continued seamlessly for a while, until one day, Flores heard the sound of knocking at the back door. Thinking it was a person, he went to answer – but it was Hades.

Speaking on Facebook about his dog, according to Google translation, Flores said:
“I tell you that our puppy Hades had days that he behaved a little strange, a little strange, annoying than usual, more accelerated, he ran from one side to the other, hitting doors, windows, as if looking for something (he even destroyed a cushion which was the basis for him to lie down). Well, this morning was the day that he was most restless, he even knocked on the door of the house several times so hard that I thought it had been a person.”

In an interview with The Dodo, Flores added that Hades seemed “desperate”, and was “making a lot of noise”.
Flores sensed that Hades was trying to tell him something. So he followed his dog outside… and that’s when he came across a beautiful sight.

“…he was in a ball outside the door and he always sleeps inside his house, when I look out, he had left his house to a pregnant kitten and there she had her kittens.”
It was the stray cat he had been feeding. She must have sensed that Flores and Hades offered the safest and most comfortable place to give birth to her babies, and Hades had stepped aside like a gentleman and let her rest in his dog house.
Not only that, but Hades stayed at the cat’s side, like her very own guardian angel. Flores recalled:
“He dragged a blanket over to the entrance of his house and settled outside the door. She felt protected by him.”

The cat had given birth to two kittens, and, according to Flores, Hades became like the father figure.
At this point, Flores thought it would be safer for all involved if he bought the stray cat and her kittens inside. Luckily, the cat must have felt the same, as she was most likely thinking about the health of her babies.

Flores named the cat Nicol, and she and Hades are now the best of friends. Flores will be rehoming the kittens when they’re old enough, but Nicol will remain a member of his family for the rest of her life.

Flores made a final point that we should all try and remember:
“Pit bulls are good dogs. Hades put everything aside to help someone else. We should do the same without expecting anything in return.”
