Some people think that pit bulls are undesirable dogs. This photoshoot shows just how beautiful they really are.
Right now, pit bulls suffer from a bad reputation. They’re stereotyped as being vicious, aggressive and unloving animals. But in reality, most pit bulls are loving, caring dogs.
Every individual dog has their own unique personality, pit bulls included!
But this story and its photoshoot really shed light on just how cute and adorable most pit bulls are.
It all began when Pits & Giggles Rescue in Charlotte, North Carolina found an abandoned pitbull on the side of the road. When they took the dog, whom they named Pickles, in, they discovered that she was pregnant.
The shelter could tell that Pickles was an adorable animal.
Previous owners may have mistreated her. But that didn’t stop her from being friendly to every human she came across.
That’s when one of the shelter volunteers came up with a plan to really shake up the perception of pit bulls. They thought that Pickles needed a maternity photoshoot!
So the shelter contacted a photography company and got the shoot together.
The photos were amazing, and they received lots of acclaim online. That meant that when Pickles gave birth to her babies, they had to do a follow-up photoshoot!
Pickles gave birth to eight adorable puppies one day in the shelter. According to the volunteers, the labor was intense, with Pickles struggling to cope with the pressure.
Luckily, Pickles soon recovered, and the photoshoot could get underway. And the pictures of the mama dog with her babies gained even more praise and attention online.
Pretty soon, the shelter was inundated with requests to adopt the beautiful puppies and Pickles.
Of course, the babies had to stay with their mother for quite some time. But the shelter was amazed that every puppy had a home lined up when they grew old enough to leave!
And while the photoshoots are adorable, the shelter also created them to raise the importance of spaying and neutering.
The shelter was quick to point out that Pickles had a very difficult labor. The puppies are adorable, but they really did put a strain on the shelter and their mother.
The shelter believes that Pickles’s previous owners let the dog get pregnant many times in the past.
This is what caused the dog to have such a difficult time giving birth this time around. If the previous owners had spayed Pickles, then she would have had a much easier time.
In many ways, Pickles and her puppies are incredibly lucky to have had this publicity.
It is incredibly hard for most shelters to find homes for pit bulls. In fact, pit bulls on average spend three times longer in animal shelters than any other dog breed.
The message is clear: Don’t judge a dog by its name! Judge them by their personality. And get your dogs spayed or neutered!
