Parenting is not and will never become an easy task.

It requires devotion, unparalleled love, and genuine care in order to go “smoothly”.

It is rewarding to see your little ones grow, to see their everyday progress, and to witness all the “firsts” in their lives.

This is true not just for humans, but for this sweet Pitbull with her baby raccoons as well.

The same story about parenting goes for animal parents. In fact, it can even be a little bit harder for them. They only have their “animal instincts” to rely on, after all.

While dogs tend to have puppies, just as cats have kittens, with this sweet Pitbull it’s different. She has baby raccoons.

Rain, Storm, and Hailey just lost their mom when they were still little. The baby raccoons had nowhere to go and surviving would be next to impossible without a parent beside them. So Ashlyn came to the rescue.

When the three raccoons were orphaned by their mother, they ran into a backyard that belongs to a family who would change their lives forever.

Ashlyn is a grown female Pitbull who lives with said family in Canada.

According to Ashlyn’s mom, her dog was a little bit confused about having the three little raccoons beside her. But eventually, after a couple of days, Ashlyn accepted the three like they were her own puppies.

Ashlyn is probably the best mother that Rain, Storm, and Hailey could ever have.

The three raccoons couldn’t be happier with how they’ve been taken care of by their new foster mom.

Of course, Ashlyn turned out to be a protective mother and is always on the lookout for her new babies, lest anything should harm them.

“My dog Ashlyn wasn’t really sure of the trio when they first arrived. However now that a few days have passed she’s adopted them like they’re her own puppies,” Ashlyn’s mom wrote on an Instagram post.

The new instant-mom is always close to her little kits, as they are no longer in the wild and are still learning their new environment.

The three feel safe as long as their Pitbull mama is beside them.

They surely make for a lovely family, wouldn’t you agree?

The raccoons were born in the wild but don’t have any idea how to survive on their own, so Ashlyn and her family are there to help.

Ashlyn and her mom, Katie, are teaching the wild trio how to survive in the wild.

They will often go outside for walks and will make the raccoons climb the trees. They’ve also trained them to flip rocks to search for bugs and fish for their meals by themselves.

The little raccoons’ daily progress is remarkable and the family is happy about it.

“We’re just here to try and teach them the life skills they’ll need to be able to survive and thrive in the wild,” Ashlyn’s owner said on a Facebook video shared by The Dodo.

This loving family made an Instagram account and shared this beautiful story of Ashlyn and her three raccoons. The account is called thehouseofoakley. They regularly post updates about the raccoons’ progress.

In fact, Rain, Storm, and Hailey are not the only raccoons that they’ve tried to rescue and rehabilitate. They also have Onyx, Sky, Jade, Woods, Emerald, and River.

Who would’ve imagined a dog could be a mother to raccoons?

This story of kindness is worth sharing around the world. Ashlyn and her family have definitely shown an unmatched love and genuine care for animals.
