Pit bull and new kitten meet for the first time

It’s usually nice having more than one pet living in the home. After all, the more the merrier, right?

Though bringing home a new pet can be exciting, it can also be a little concerning. You just never know how your pet is going to react when a new family member enters the picture. Thus, anytime you introduce a new pet to your old one, do so with care.

Luckily, not many problems arise from pets living together. Despite the popular belief that cats and dogs cannot get along, they actually get along quite well. In fact, according to the American Kennel Club, there are several dog breeds that are great with cats. For example, beagles, pugs, labrador and golden retrievers, collies, bulldogs, and a few others get along with cats quite easily.

Still, using caution when bringing in new pets is always a good idea, no matter the breed. After all, the listed breeds are simply generalizations.

Today, there are several videos circulating online showing pets meeting for the first time. Often, they are very sweet and heartwarming. The best ones are those that show how the relationship between the two pets has grown and how they become the best of friends in later videos.

One YouTube user, 1984missdaisy, filmed the tender moment when she introduced her Pit Bull, Licious, to their new kitten. The interaction is undoubtedly adorable. Thus far, the video has over 10 million views and over 28,000 ‘likes.’ If you take a look at the video, it’s easy to see why.

The little kitten is just so darn cute and so darn curious. He appears to be fascinated with Licious’ large paws. Understandably, he has probably never seen such large ones before! Still, Licious sits patiently as the kitten takes his time investigating the large paws before him.

Such an investigation includes touching, prodding, climbing, and even nibbling, of course. Nonetheless, Licious simply watches and doesn’t even flinch. Perhaps she’s being mindful not to startle the kitty.

For many years, Pit Bulls have gotten a pretty bad rep. Many people fear them, believing that it is simply a matter of time before they become violent. In some states, there have even been bans put in place to eliminate the breeding of Pit Bulls altogether.

However, there are others who claim that the idea that Pit Bulls are inherently dangerous is unfounded. Even former President Obama stated, “…research shows that bans on certain types of dogs are largely ineffective and often a waste of public resources. And the simple fact is that dogs of any breed can become dangerous when they’re intentionally or unintentionally raised to be aggressive.”

These predispositions of Pit Bulls only make videos showing them being playful, patient, kind, and sweet, even better.

In this video, as the kitten continues to play with Licious’s paws, Licious begins to wag her tail when she hears her owner’s voice.

“What’s that kitty doing to you, Mama?”

Soon after, Licious begins to lick the kitten. By the looks of it, the kitty is enjoying his little bath. After several good licks, the owner tells Licious that it’s time to stop licking.

“Lish, enough with the lickin'”

But Lish and the kitten are having a ball.

“Lish, no more kisses!”

Of course, Licious stops. But when she looks up at her owner, your heart will melt. She looks incredibly sad that she isn’t allowed to lick her new buddy anymore. Still, she slips in one last lick before stopping.

“Good girl,” her owner says.
