Pitbull rescued from dogfighting ring gets first snack and ‘loses his mind’
Dogfighting is inarguably one of the most, if not the most, cruel and heartless ‘sports’ in the world that a dog could be involved in. It’s a cruel combat sport where a dog is physically and mentally conditioned to fight.
It’s bloody entertainment for people who also get to milk money out of animal abuse. This is where two dogs will be placed in a fighting ring just as in boxing but of course, they will not try to knock each other out using a punch.
They will try to bite one another using their razor-sharp teeth and powerful jaws until one of them can no longer continue, which often times results in the dog’s death.
Unfortunately, this bloodsport is still going on to this day in the UK for over 180 years, despite being described as an illegal activity.
These poor furbabies who have fallen into the possession of ruthless dogfighters have already lost their soft side.
Their lives have been filled with non-stop violence, abuse, pain, and fear. They also experience an immeasurable amount of emotional trauma for most of their entire life.
These dogs are on the verge of losing their hope of being “man’s best friend.”
Dogs living in the world of dogfighting are never given the chance to live out the real purpose of their lives: being a pet, a family member, and a man’s best friend.
All they know is that they must fight just to be kept by their cruel owner. They are lucky enough if they get freed from that bloody arena, and beyond blessed when finally treated with love by a human companion.
Meet Finn the Pit Bull, also known as The Mighty Finn.
Finn was luckily saved from dogfighters way back 2016. He was abused by his previous owners. He looked like he didn’t have even the slightest idea of how it feels to be loved and to have a human companion who treats him like a real member of the family.
Thankfully, Finn fell into some good hands and they are not giving up on him.
Saving a dog from cruelty cases like Finn’s is a challenging task. Not to mention his breed and the fact that his new owners already have dogs and cats in the home. It wasn’t an easy task but they did everything they could out of love.
You can also see how they coped with the challenge on his Facebook page.
Eventually, Finn started coming around to the idea that he is loved.
A video shared on his Facebook page, captioned “Pizza Crust Zoomies!”, shows Finn experiencing something every dog should know; the joy of Pizza!
We all love pizza, who doesn’t? Imagine the delight that it would bring a dog who’s been mistreated for almost his entire life?
The video shows Finn’s reaction after getting his very first treat.
In the video, Finn can be seen zooming around his play area after every bite given to him. He can’t sit still and grab a hold of his excitement. He is simply an adorable dog with a big, expressive pair of eyes and a tail that’s waggling non-stop.
Did I forget to mention that as of this writing, the video already has 4 million views? Yes, you read it right! From a violent dog to an internet star!
Finn was saved from a cruel life and now is getting all the love he deserves from his human companions, it’s simply heart-warming!
We all hope that Finn will eventually forget his dark past. We also hope that his new joyful experiences with his family will completely heal his wounds. Lastly, we hope that he gets to enjoy more treats in the future!
What’s being done to stop animal cruelty, such as dogfighting?
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) is a charity geographically operating in England and Wales. Whoever suspects someone to be an illegal dogfighter can also call them with confidence, to avoid the continuity of such cruelty against animals.
We can all help in simple ways, making this world a better place for dogs. We can all be animal welfare advocates. Let’s help save these abused dogs and help them have a happy ending just like Finn.
