Unfortunately, it’s absolutely evident that not all people are fit to take care of animals. Sometimes these pets are horribly abused, but something like neglect can have just as disastrous consequences for our furry friends.

Thankfully, there are people willing to stop it.

And if you decide to welcome a four-footer into your home, you’re signing up for a bunch of happiness and energy – but you also agree to take care of them as best as you can.

Playing, feeding them, going on walks, it’s all part of the experience.

Sadly, this pit bull who listens to the name Rose hasn’t had any of that during her early life. She was confined to her crate all day, and her owner didn’t even look at her.

Rose’s owner turned out to be a broke grad student, but that definitely wasn’t the only reason why Rosie wasn’t taken care of.

She was malnourished, barely had enough water, and didn’t go on walks.

Apparently, Rose was sometimes stuck in her crate for multiple days at a time.

The woman who eventually ended up rescuing her, Maddy, first met Rose through a friend of hers. Rose’s owner was the roommate of Maddy’s friend, and once she witnessed just how this poor pooch was treated, her heart absolutely sank.

Maddy then simply told her friend that the guy should take much better care of his pets.

“So I told her to tell the guy that had Rose, to, basically, shape up or ship out. Fix what you’re doing to her, or find her a new home,” she told in a video by The Dodo.

Unfortunately, the neglectful owner didn’t change a single thing, and Rose was still leading a very unhappy life.

Maddy kept a close eye on things and by her next visit, she simply had enough.

Seeing absolutely no change at all, the woman made the drastic decision to take care of the dog herself.

Maddy then called her friend again and said that she’d be coming over to pick the dog up.

She just couldn’t see that poor dog suffering for one more day.

When she arrived, her friend simply told her Rose’s owner wasn’t around and had no idea when he’d be back.

As for Rose, she was stuck in her crate again with no food or water in sight.

Right away, Maddy opened the crate and tried to take care of the adorable and thankful pit bull as best as she could.

It was an emotional moment, as the dog cave her cuddles and didn’t want her to leave at all – it’s as if she needed the woman to take her out of there.

And that’s exactly what she did.

Maddy said that she’d take the dog away if she wasn’t properly taken care of, even by force if needed.

At first, the plan was to get Rose back healthy and foster her for a little while – but Maddy fell in love with the adorable pit bull and has been staying at her place ever since.

Maddy is an epic foster fail.

These two quickly became best friends and shared a strong bond together, and the pit bull really got along with the rest of the family too.

Rose’s medical condition was dire.

She was ill and clearly malnourished – but her situation started to improve as the days went by at Maddy’s place. And that’s definitely something you can see in her playful, affectionate new personality!

If it weren’t for Maddy, there’s a very real chance that Rose would still be locked up in that crate without food.
