There probably isn’t a more terrifying scenario than having your house go up in flames, especially when there are children still inside. Meet Sasha, a pit bull from Stockton, California who is now being praised as a hero, and rightfully so.

When a family’s home started to burn down, everyone panicked. A 7-month-old baby was still inside the home, and she couldn’t possible get out of there by herself. As mom started to think that it’d be too late to rescue her, they suddenly heard their pit bull barking around.

Sasha managed to rescue the baby by grabbing her diaper and carrying her to a safe distance.

Pit bulls are often stereotypically portrayed as being aggressive animals and they aren’t family-friendly at all. Sasha has now definitely proven otherwise because if it weren’t for her, things would’ve ended up a lot worse. In fact, most pit bull owners will claim that their four-footers are extremely loyal and gentle, but there’s still a big stigma around them. In fact, most people still link the pit bull breed to violence.

It all happened back in 2018 when a fourplex on East Yorkshire Drive was engulfed in flames.

Nana Chaichanhda was the house owner and was actually notified of the fire by her pit bull Sasha, who was just eight months old at the time. The four-footer kept on making noise and banging the door. When she let the dog in, Sasha kept going. Nana knew something was wrong, and that’s when she noticed that the adjacent house was on fire, which belonged to her cousin. It wouldn’t take long before the flames would reach her house too.

Right away, Nana ran towards the bedroom to get her baby to safety but was shocked to see that the baby was already gone.

Sasha already grabbed the baby by her diaper and took her to safety, running right past mom. When Nana finally realized what was going on, she picked up both of them and got to an even safer distance. Even though the house was likely lost, the most important thing was that everyone got out safely.

The fire department arrived quickly, but the flames were too quick and severe. Most of the building was destroyed.

The local community heard about Nana’s story, and the woman also set up a GoFundMe page as their home was now uninhabitable. She raised more than 6,000 dollars.

In the meantime, the family home has been restored and Nana’s two little precious gems are doing very well.
