A lot of had to stop their usual activities because of the current Covid-19 pandemic.

For some time, we need to stay at home and do our part to flatten the curve. And different countries had different rules, depending on their country’s covid-19 situation.

Over the past weeks, some countries have successfully flattened the curve, including the Netherlands.

They might be the only country in the world where the government asked, not ordered, their citizens to stay home. That was on March 12, 2020, two weeks after the first covid-19 diagnosis in the Netherlands.

The Dutch people were asked to be responsible and to act responsibly. That meant they need to stay at home as much as possible, including working from their homes. And if they do go outdoors, they need to practice social distancing.

On May 11, 2020, two months after the restrictions were implemented, the Netherlands began to ease up.

Schools can accommodate elementary school children. And, as long as there’s social distancing, organized sports are allowed again.

That’s why people can go to the parks once again and even join free dance classes. All the participants just have to practice social distancing.

That’s what salsa teacher Fiek kept in mind when she decided to teach salsa dance class at the park.

She accepted only a handful of students (only six) and she made everyone stay 1.5 meters away from each other. And they were surprised when two police officers came up to their group.

Did they violate any rules? Were they going to break the group up?

Fiek kept dancing and giving instructions while she waited for the police officers to approach her. But they never did.

“Did a salsa class last night in the Zuiderpark Den Haag. Two police officers on horseback came by and decided to do a dance! Amazing and what enthusiasm,” Fiel wrote on her Facebook profile while she shared their video.

They laughed when they saw the police and horses dancing along with them!

When they stepped back and forth, the horses did the same. They would twirl around and the horses did the same. The dancers would bring their arms to the side and, well, the horses couldn’t do that, but the police officers could and did.

Fiek loved the video and asked her family and friends to share it and spread good vibes.

Well, they did share the video and everybody shared it until it reached more than 3,300 shares (and counting!).

Fiek could not believe when her video had viewed more than 250,000 times.

“One week ago I posted a video of me and my friends dancing salsa with [the] company of two police officers on horseback. A special and unique situation, which especially gave and radiated lots of fun. A positive vibe, in this (still) weird time,” Fiek wrote a week later on her Facebook wall. “I asked you to share the video and this was done massively. Now we are one week further and the video has continued all of Europe and even beyond like America. Multiple media platforms were interested in this video. Bizarre and incredibly amazing. I want to thank you for sharing because you made this video viral. Without you, this wouldn’t have been possible! Thank you so much!”

Fiek loved it and loved how dancing brings everyone together.

Even the people lounging around couldn’t help but enjoy all the dancing happening in front of them.
