Police post hilarious notes on bad parkers' windows that even the kids would love
Parking lots are compacted pretty tight and it’s not always the easiest to find a spot. After circling the lot for the millionth time you finally peek a little spot to squeeze into. But the moment you pull up you notice the car parked beside is taking up half the space… As infuriating as that is, sometimes you wonder how people can be so unaware or just plain rude.
Parking Jam
That’s when this police department in Southlake, Texas came up with a brilliant way to keep people in the lines. Handicapped spots are few and far between in some parking lots.
For some people with certain ailments or disabilities, it can be extremely difficult to find a place to park.
Especially when other people think they can take up two spots without thinking twice. But the Southlake Department of Public Safety thought there must be a way to get people’s attention without putting tickets on everyone’s window.
How about we bring it back to the good old grade schools day!?
The Southlake Texas police department created a witty coloring sheet advising people to be cautious of handicapped spots beside their parking spot. The coloring sheet said,
“We noticed you had a little trouble staying in the lines when you parked next to a handicapped space… Maybe if you practice coloring our patch and staying in the lines here it could help you avoid citations in the future?”
Now that’s definitely an innovative way to grab the attention of someone with a bad park job. The officer could have easily just written them a ticket and called it a day. But sometimes it’s best to just teach a valuable lesson for people not thinking about the others around them. We’re sure the person who received this note got the message.
Protect & Serve
The department posted on Twitter to let the county know what could be posted on their window if they parked within a handicapped spot. Twitter users loved the clever idea that the Southlake police department had, some even commented saying,
There’s no denying that this warning sign is an interesting way to remind parkers to stay in the lines. It’s also generous of the department to give such a humorous warning as opposed to paying a hefty fine. People on Twitter got to share their experiences with bad parkers and some even discussed the problems their own loved ones have had trying to find handicapped spots.
Personal Experiences
With some ramps being larger in some cases, it can be difficult for handicapped to let alone fit into a parking spot and to also have an extension ramp.
That’s why it’s important for people to be kind and be aware of others that might need the full parking spot.
A simple skill we all learned when we were young was to be kind and stay in the lines. That’s why this little note is a great reminder for people to remember they’re not the only people in the world. So break out those markers and crayons and start practicing staying in the lines!
