Pounding on the puppy’s back, Hernandez was hoping to dislodge whatever was blocking Bhodi’s airway. Meanwhile, Vitale, her friend, and the other officer watch as the tense situation unfolded.

As he recovered from his ordeal, firefighters who arrived on the scene gave Bhodi some much-needed oxygen while one of the police officers holds him. Soon, he is on his way to the vet for a more thorough checkup to make sure he is OK. Fortunately, Bhodi was able to make a full recovery.

“You don’t really train for a dog in the academy, so the only thing I would say going through my mind was, ‘Oh my God, I hope I’m doing this right,'” Hernandez said. “My whole hands pretty much wrapped around him, and I started kind of pumping away at his chest.”

As for the police officers, they are being hailed as heroes for their quick actions, which probably saved Bhodi’s life. You can watch the video below of the officers’ incredible work.
