Poodle smells smoke from kitchen and races to doorbell cam to bark for help

Leaving your pet at home is probably one of the saddest, most unavoidable things for any pet owner. It can’t be helped, especially to those who need to make a living outside of their home.

Thankfully, they’re smarter than we give them credit for.

That lonesome feeling can be easily replaced by fear when you start to think about the scary things that could happen to them while you are away.

What if the dog escapes home? What if it goes somewhere in the house where they’re not supposed to be? What if your dog chews up any type of electrical wiring?

These are just a few of the many things that might happen.

In this story, however, the fear jumps over the atmosphere of emotions because the dog was trapped inside a burning house. Luckily, she got out safe and sound.

Turns out, she is not your ordinary dog!

She’s Prada, a 1-year-old poodle in Orlando, Florida.

It all happened one day when the couple was out at work, leaving the adorable pooch alone at home.

Then suddenly, the dog became uneasy and started to send motion alert signals to her owners through the Ring doorbell of their home.

“We got the motion alert. When we saw the camera, she was barking in the kitchen. She never does that,” homeowner Nestor Gonzalez told Click Orlando.

Gonzales kept an eye on his phone for any other alerts that might come from their security system. Then 30 minutes later, he received another motion alert on his phone.

He quickly checked the footage from the camera and things became clearer.

Their kitchen caught fire!

“Everything was smokey and it was cloudy inside so we couldn’t see anything,” homeowner Americo Ledezma said.

Gonzales and Ledezma immediately rushed home hoping their beloved Prada’s safe and away from harm. Their top priority was to see her okay.

“All we can think about was Prada, hoping she was okay. Material stuff, you can always replace. But her life, that’s something you can’t replace,” Gonzalez said.

Thankfully, Prada was out of any kind of danger.

The brave firefighters from the Orange County Fire Rescue quickly jumped into action.

The fire wasn’t huge yet but the smoke might suffocate her.

So when they arrived on the scene, the firefighters immediately rescued Prada and carried her out of the house.

Her white fur turned grey with soot, but she’s safe.

That’s what matters the most, especially to her owners. The fire rescue team commended Prada for being smart and composed under pressure.

They are still investigating the real cause of the fire.

And though the total damage in the house amounts to thousands of dollars, Nestor and Americo are just glad nothing bad happened to their beloved Prada.

If it wasn’t because of her animal instincts, the fire could’ve been a lot worse.

“Everything’s gone. All the hard work, everything we have done,” said Gonzalez. “We have to start all over again. It’s so frustrating seeing everything devastated like it is inside.”

Even so, she couldn’t be more thankful for her beloved pooch.

“The good part is that it’s material. I’m glad that we are okay and that Prada is OK,” said Ledezma.
