Busker plays drums on buckets when dancer starts "popping" – onlookers go wild
In New York, you see some crazy surprises, and this story is no different!
In the Big Apple, there are crazy adventures and excitement on every street and every alley.
Even just wandering down the street in Times Square can be overwhelming for tourists.
You never know what you will see on the streets, and that’s probably what these pedestrians thought when they witnessed an amazing dance performance.
To start the video, you see a man who has a drum kit set up and is performing with various pots and pans.
He isn’t a fan of being video recorded in the beginning, but eventually, he sits down and begins working his drums.
With his specially made drum set, the street drummer starts killing an absolutely awesome beat, and when the guy beside him starts to get into it, the crowd begins to lose their minds.
Poppin Hyun Joon is standing next to him. If you’ve never heard of this contemporary dancer, let’s just say he’s more than impressive!
“Popping” is a style of dance moves that were created by Boogaloo Sam in the 70s.
He created it because he wanted something that went along with the Electric Boogaloos hip-hop style. “Popping” is one of the oldest funk dance styles, and it includes a few different techniques.
Most of the movements are done to create a herky-jerky style with your body.
So a popping dancer will use this herky-jerky style to move to the beat. They also incorporate special poses, such as ticking and gliding. Poppin Hyun Joon might be one of the most famous dancers to incorporate this style.
After being in a rap group that decided to disband, Joon shot up the ranks of Korean dancers. He has become one of the top “popping” dancers at the World Hip Hop Championship leagues. He is known as a celebrity in many Asian countries as well as the United States.
The man keeps playing his drums, and Poppin Hyun Joon keeps dropping jaws in the crowd.
For a quick moment, the camera pans backward to show a large number of people that are crowding around the performance.
Both of the performers are putting on an incredible show. The random street performer is killing his drum routine, while “Poppin” Hyun Joon is equally wowing people with his footwork.
At the end of the performance, the drummer gives Poppin Hyun Joon a big hug, thanking him for his help with the incredible impromptu street show.
And just like that, the show is over, and life goes back to normal. That’s just everyday life on the streets of New York.
