Girl gives friend with Down Syndrome homecoming crown

A very special friendship led to a Texas high school having not one but two homecoming queens this year – Emily Petty and Trinity Arrington.

Trinity and Emily are both seniors at S&S Consolidated High School in Sadler, Texas. They were also both nominated for homecoming queen – however, ultimately, Trinity was awarded the crown. Deep down, though, Trinity wanted her friend Emily to win.

“I didn’t think I was going to win. I told everyone that asked me if I wanted to win that I wanted Emily to win, so I told them to vote for her.”

So…she took the crown off her head and gave it to her dear friend.

“I decided to give my crown to my sweet friend Emily because she’s always wanted to be a princess,” Trinity told local news station KXII. “So I decided she deserved it.”

You see, what made this moment so special is that Emily has Down Syndrome and has always dreamed of wearing a gown with a crown, being the center of all attention.

The two teens first became friends nearly one year before the emotional moment during homecoming. Trinity began spending her lunch periods in the special education classroom and formed an instant connection with Emily. As they had it, they both had a lot in common.

“I love her every day,” Emily boasted to the news channel.

The two teens jointly received the award on the football field as the crowd cheered on from the stands. Emily and Trinity walked hand-in-hand with smiles beaming across both of their faces.

“We got to hold hands and we waved at everyone, and we blew kisses to everyone on the Collinsville side, they were really excited for us,” said Trinity.

“I blew a kiss to my friends,” Emily said, still ecstatic and on a high from the special day.

“We got to be (homecoming queen) together. I think that was the best part for me…She’s always been my queen, she deserves it. It made her happy,” Trinity added.
