Teen can’t afford a prom dress, so her date learns how to sew and makes one from scratch gets sewing

At first, it looked like Adrianna Rust would not be able to attend the prom. But her date was determined to let her wear her dream dress.

Some say that teenagers are lazy. But in actuality, many current teens are hard working and incredibly talented. Could you have done what Parker Smith did?

High-schoolers look forward to prom and with good reason. In many ways, it marks the beginning of their adult life and celebrates all that they’ve achieved in school.

But when Adrianna Rust went shopping for her prom dress, she was disheartened.

Her family was struggling financially, and she couldn’t afford any of the dresses that she saw. She had the perfect dress in mind. She then tried looking in thrift stores, but she couldn’t find anything that resembled what she wanted.

When every dress was either way too expensive or not right, Rust joked with her best friend and prom date, Parker Smith, that he could make one. Smith laughed, but the more he got thinking about it, the more he thought that he could do it.

Smith had never so much as picked up a needle and thread before. But he also wondered just how hard it could be. Smith had always been a fast learner. So he thought that he could at least try making the dress of Rust’s dreams.

First things first, Parker got Rust to show him a picture of the dress that she wanted more than anything else. Then he sketched a version of the dress that he thought he could sew himself.

Then he got some material, got his mom’s old sewing machine and got experimenting.

At first, Smith’s sewing was a little patchy. But he also knew that the more he tried the better he would get. Every day, he would spend an hour or so sewing fabric together. And little by little, he got more confident.

The day of the prom was getting ever closer. Luckily, Smith really managed to get the hang of sewing. Pretty soon, he had something that looked almost as good as Rust’s dream dress.

Finally, he had something that was wearable. But he wasn’t done yet. Every day, Smith improved his design a little, perfecting it as much as he could.

When Rust saw the final dress, she was overwhelmed with gratitude. In fact, she said that it was better than the one that was too expensive for her.

She knew then and there why she was friends with Smith. This was totally in character for him. He’s always helped the people he cares about.

All that was left for the two to do was enjoy the prom. Everyone at the school was astounded that Smith could make something so impressive. Many people have said that he could easily have a career in fashion. It’s hard to disagree when you see how well the dress fits!
