Little Vincente was all dressed up in his doggie tuxedo to meet his new family earlier this year. He was rescued from the streets of La Calera, Colombia by an organization called Fundación Rescátame.

The shelter snapped a few photos of him waiting for his fur-ever family to come to pick him up in his dapper tuxedo.

Puppies are popular, so it doesn’t take a whole lot of effort to get these cuties adopted.

But despite already having signed the adoption papers, Vincente’s new family never showed.

All dressed up and no place to go

Of course, Vincente has no idea what a tuxedo is and didn’t understand what was going on. But for us humans, it’s heartbreaking to see his little face and think that a family could reject him at the last minute.

Then again, anyone who would do that might not turn out to be a great dog owner.

The staff of Fundación Rescátame was determined to find this little guy a proper home. So they shared his sweet photos on social media.

“Vicente’s alleged adopter never came for him,” they wrote in a Facebook post that has now been removed. “When he was ready for a home, bathed, he canceled his adoption. Then they ask us why we’re so strict with the process, for this reason! Because we don’t want to have any doubt that our furry ones will be in excellent hands for LIFE. If you want to adopt, keep in mind that it’s a commitment forever, animals are not things you can dispose of when you miss the desire to have a dog.” (translated by Facebook)

On Instagram, the post of the puppy in his tuxedo has been liked over 92K times since September 9th. Sympathy poured in from around the world.

Immediately, the organization has plenty of potential families for Vincente!

Going home

The very same day they posted his photos on Instagram, a second family was chosen to adopt the cute puppy.

And they DID come to pick him up!

The shelter reminded people that there were 40 other dogs to choose from at that moment as well! (And we’ll remind you that there are animals with sad, sweet stories at every shelter in the world.)

Vincente’s story even managed to inspire fan art by humans that felt sad for him. Now he’s the face of responsible adoption halfway around the world!

A new life

Vincente is now living the good life at home with his new family. They’ve ever started an Instagram page so his fans can follow his story – and it already has over 18k followers!

As you can see, he seems to be having a grand old time being surrounded by new toys, a loving family, and a bed and blankets that are all his own (though he’s also a big fan of the couch).
