Most people love and care for the pets they own, but occasionally animals come into the possession of cruel people. The worst offenders are pet owners who mistreat the weakest animals, such as a newborn puppy. Newborn pups can’t move or see and so have no idea what is going on around them. Fortunately, Tucker had a whole community of good people on his side.

Tucker is found buried under 6 inches of dirt

When police found 7-day-old Tucker, he was buried beneath six inches of dirt. His cries had alerted a passerby who then called the police. Upon arriving, the officers immediately got on their hands and knees and began digging. They were horrified to find the tiny puppy that had been buried and left to die.

The police rushed him to the vet

Fortunately, for Tucker, the police arrived just in time to save him. Whoever did it had buried him shallow enough to be heard, but deep enough that he would have suffocated if not rescued. The officers were understandably angered by the cruel act. Digging him out, the officers rushed him to the vet. It was there that they learned his young age, which seemed to make the whole act even worse.

Tucker was not able to defend himself

Imagine being in Tucker’s place. He couldn’t even open his eyes to tell where he was. He was thrown in a hole and covered with dirt and he had no idea why. Why had he been taken from his mother and treated so poorly? And while the veterinary staff were angry as well, they were also grateful that the little pup would have to suffer no more.

Fortunately, Tucker was otherwise healthy

The staff reported that he appeared healthy, taking to the bottle right away. While feeding the tiny puppy, one of the staff fell in love with him and has plans to adopt him as soon as he is ready. Soon, he was going home with the staff member where he would receive all the love his new family could give him, a far cry from his start in a dirt hole.

The search continues for the one who buried Tucker

Police are still searching for the person responsible for what happened to Tucker. They hope to catch the perpetrator and prosecute them for their crimes against this poor, helpless dog. And while horrible people, such as the person who buried Tucker, do live amongst us, it is people, like those who work at the police department and the animal clinic, or who adopt puppies like Tucker that give us hope.

If the person who had buried Tucker had wanted, they could have given him to someone or brought him to the animal shelter. The staff there would have gladly taken care of him and found him a loving home. It does make one wonder if Tucker had any siblings and what had been their fate.
