Quiet teen’s talent show performance is one for the history books

Brett Nichols from Pitman High School in Turlock, California, found a perfect recipe to win his school talent show.

The perfect recipe was, of course, the perfect dance routine.

Say no more.

The King of Pop surely pops to mind – and Nichols did a fantastic MJ impression that’ll have your eyes glued to the screen!

It has been almost four decades since Michael Jackson took the stage to perform ā€œBillie Jeanā€ in front of an audience of 47 million people. Sure, weā€™ve all watched that video numerous times. Thatā€™s when the moonwalk was born.

Undeniably, MJā€™s choreographies are a delight to watch, even when someone else performs them. If nothing else, Brett deserves an award for reminding us of how effective the ā€œBillie Jeanā€ show is.

Brett is wearing a similar outfit, with the glove as a finishing detail.

Not only did the kid put an effort to copy Jacksonā€™s movements, but he also honored the late superstar by choosing the same outfit. We concluded that Nichols is a huge fan just by looking at him.

Brett decided to lip-sync to the song while displaying perfect dance moves. Look at his legs! The boy is floating in the air. No wonder MTW News described his performance by saying that Brett ā€œdoes the Michael Jackson better than Michael Jacksonā€™s hologram.ā€

Despite how effortless it may seem, ā€œBillie Jeanā€ choreography is not easy to learn.

Nichols didnā€™t just learn the dance-he mastered it. We canā€™t imagine how many hours of after-school practice did it take to dance like this. Brettā€™s timing is perfect. His moves of combing the hair with an imaginary comb, just like MJ did, are the exact replica of the original performance.

Weā€™ve got to hand it to him, the kidā€™s got an eye for details. Itā€™s inspiring to see a teenager putting so much effort into learning the MJ magic of dance.

More than 26 million YouTube views

Needless to say, the videoā€™s popularity exploded in just a couple of days.

In an interview with Turlock Journal, Brett said that he never expected that the video would go viral. ā€œI just thought it would be good to see myself performing.ā€

However, he also said that ā€œItā€™s really exciting to be recognized by such an iconic family in American history,ā€ referring to the opportunity he was given to perform at the ā€œMichael Jackson ONEā€ show in Vegas. Several great opportunities were offered to Brett, who was now a certified internet sensation.

The whole school was cheering and having a blast.

Everyone in the audience is on their feet, dancing, having a great time, and cheering Brett on. It must have been hard to be the kid that performed after him.

Brett Nichols won the talent show, and he went on to do several more MJ-inspired performances.

Today, Nichols is a professional dancer, and heā€™s got a dance group that performs with him.

Seven years have passed, and Brett is still dancing. His love of dance has led him to create more videos where he replicates Jacksonā€™s moves.
