Busker sings hit Aerosmith song – then he looks up as Steven Tyler steps in to join him
The life of a busker can be pretty wild. They usually perform on the street to a new set of strangers every day. Everything is unpredictable.
All it takes is one special person to be walking down the right path at the right time (like that one time Bruce Springsteen joined a lucky busker in Boston a few years back).
There are two big rewards for street performers: the people who enjoy their performance and, of course, the tips. It’s even better when someone extra special accidentally comes along to give their performance some love. Busking is all about going with the flow and embracing spontaneity.
Back in 2017, a street musician in Moscow was surprised by none other than Steven Tyler of the famous rock band Aerosmith.
Of all the stars to pass by, this is a pretty huge one!
The busker decided to sing the smash hit, “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing,” and it is safe to say that he wasn’t doing too bad of a job.
If he was, we are pretty sure Mr. Tyler would not have joined in. Instead, he saw a talented musician who was doing the song justice and wanted to join in to share a beautiful moment.
“I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” is perhaps Aerosmith’s biggest song to date. Released in 1998, it was initially made for the Liv Tyler-starring film, Armageddon. The song’s success stretched far beyond that though, hitting the No. 1 spot in the U.S. as well as selling over a million copies.
This busker was happy to take on his own rendition of the song, but it is safe to say that he was probably not mentally prepared to sing it with the original singer. It’s an equally horrifying and awesome moment — you want to do a good job, of course!
First, we see the musician performing alone with nothing but his voice and an acoustic guitar. Then it cuts to the audience, where we see the Steven Tyler standing and watching. Okay cool, no pressure or anything. Just performing the song to the legend himself.
Then finally, toward the end of the song, Tyler finally decides to kick it up a notch and please the crowd.
Tyler jumps into the performance and takes his hat off out of respect before singing. Then he leans into the mic and graces the very pleased crowd with his iconic, husky voice.
At this point, the street performer is simply in shock. He clearly can’t believe that he is performing with Tyler in public at this moment and we can’t blame him!
The musician gives Tyler the spotlight and stays back and accompanies him with his guitar. Then Tyler hands him back the mic so they can both sing the very end together.
Tyler playfully takes his hat and places it on the busker’s head for some photos and looks really pleased! It is awesome to see rockstars be so down to Earth. Tyler was out of his element (on a public street) but decided to brighten the day for both the busker and the audience.
What a great job! See the clip below.
