Man builds magical home that looks like a cozy Hobbit house

What does your dream home look like? Many of us dream of stately homes or uber-modern mansions – but not everyone.

Stuart Grant had something cozy and whimsical in mind when he decided to build his own home in Scotland.

It was only after building his home that Stuart realized it looked familiar – to fans of “The Hobbit”, anyway.

When Stuart’s nephew shared photos of his uncle’s magical home online, it quickly gained international attention.

You have to admit, the outside of Stuart’s home looks really impressive.

If you’re a Tolkien fan yourself, you’ll agree that the house is definitely something of a Hobbit home.

The house looks as if it has always been a part of its surroundings, with a moss-coated roof and ivy-covered walls. The front door is flanked by a pair of gnarled, twisted tree branches.

If you like what you see on the outside, just wait until you see the inside.

Many of the home’s furniture is made from dark wood, including the toilet seat. There’s even a table made from a tree trunk.

The cottage has a truly cozy feel, with quilted blankets on the couch and orange lamps casting a warm glow in the small space.

There are bookshelves crammed with books, deer horns accessorizing the wall, fine china in the kitchen space, and a big fireplace taking up a large section of the living room.

It looks like the perfect place to venture to if you wanted to take a detox from your phone and spend a weekend reading a book, banking cookies or playing board games.

Of course, you wouldn’t need much indoor entertainment at all, because there’s plenty to see outside.

The cottage is located in a woody clearing – perfect for wildlife spotting.

You wouldn’t think a cottage this small would have an upstairs, but it does. A twisted wooden staircase leads to an equally cozy upper floor, with an office table and chair, a white fur rug, and another tree trunk table.

There are two bedrooms, one with a slightly larger bed, and one with two tiny twin beds, like those in Goldilocks And The Three Bears.

There’s certainly no room for a queen bed, or even a double mattress, up here.

Stuart has been smart with storage space, opting for overhead cabinets across one side of the master bedroom.

The question we all want to know is: did Stuart deliberately build his home to resemble a Hobbit house?

Amazingly, the answer is no. Stuart had never even seen any Lord of the Rings or Hobbit films before he started his project.

In fact, Stuart’s house was built nearly 40 years ago, in the early 1980s.

Stuart lived in a shed while he built his home, surrounded by various animals, including a donkey, a cow, a pig, and several chickens.

While his early living conditions might not have been ideal, his current home certainly makes those days worthwhile.
