This online community has been sharing 'before and after' adoption photos of their cats
Reddit is always a great place to visit if you want to kill time or hear about things you never expected to hear. It’s hard to know exactly how many subreddits there are, but believe me when I tell you it’ll take ages before you run out of stuff to browse.
And though the subreddits for memes and pop culture are always a treat to drop by in, the wholesome ones also don’t hurt to browse through every now and then. On r/BeforeNAfterAdoption, Reddit users all share their photos of pets they’ve adopted and how they looked before and after being taken into care. So here’s 12 posts from there to give you an idea of what you’ll find.
1. The glow-up we want to see.
Before and After. What a transformation! ❤
byu/Refractionismydad inBeforeNAfterAdoption
From scraggy pipsqueak to ball of fluff, this is quite the transformation. Cats truly are best enjoyed when they’re fluffy, and I’d never believe this was the same cat. Kittens tend to lose their blue eye color when they mature, so it’s another bonus that this one kept the blue eyes!
2. Speaking of fluffy
Our kitty was already an adult in the photo on the left. A 6 month glow up

It’s never too late to have a glow-up. This one went from fluffball to mega-fluffball in 6 months. That’s not all fluff though, this kitty had a grow-up too. I think they’ll need a bigger box of tissues now.
3. “I know all about waiting.”
Rey when I found her on the street and at 1 year old. Good job, baby girl!

This precious one was found with infected eyes. After some tender loving care, she’s now living her best life. Just like Star Wars’ Rey, this one was an orphan until fate decided that she get a new family. The Porg plush toy with the matching colors is a nice touch.
4. Good things come in the color orange.
This is my best friend LCDR Ryker. I was told you all like these kind of stories.

Clearly the back of the car is a favorite spot of his. Why wouldn’t it be? It seems to be where he met his best friend.
5. I’d be happy too if someone was feeding me.
Found this girl in November 2019. She walked right up to the door of my job. I posted on social media seeing if anyone would claim her, but someone said she looked like a stray that hung around the dumpster outside his job. I named her Hops after the restaurant. She’s now chunky and happy.

Look at that smile! It’s the smile of a cat who’s been fed and cared for. The best kind of smile. Now she’s as chunky as she deserves to be.
6. A collar is always a sign of a happy pet.
I found this kitten dumped in the middle of a road too weak and hungry to get to safety. The photo on the right is what 6 days of cuddles by the fireplace, lots of food and a cosy bed can do ☺️

That first photo might just break some hearts, no? Thankfully, he’s all happy now. Look at those fluffy cheeks and paws in all their glory. That’s a happy cat right there.
7. “You might be a terrible office assistant, but you’re my terrible office assistant.”

Don’t you love it when pets have a favorite spot and just never leave it, even when they’re older? With an office assistant this precious, I’m sure it’s worth all those hairs on your keyboard.
8. I like my cats chonky.
Wally update pt.2. He chonkin’ up nicely

Is there anything more rewarding than helping your pets gain weight? More weight means more pet for you to hug and cuddle.
9. A senior citizen.
2 years ago today I walked into a Petsmart and met a cat named Sonny who no one would adopt because he was 13 years old, covered in fleas, underweight, and had a mouth full of rotten teeth that had to be removed. He came home with me that night and it was the best decision I’ve ever made.

Can’t blame a cat for the condition you find it in. It’s a rough world out there for a stray. This one had the blessing of being found by someone who looked past the fleas and age, and instead saw a potential friend. And boy, did it pay off.
10. A glow up for mama cat!
When we got Hilda she was very underweight after having recently given birth; somewhere in the last 6 months she turned into a long haired beauty queen!
byu/reiflame inBeforeNAfterAdoption
Pregnancy is no joke. All that mommy weight doesn’t go away on its own, and this girl is a prime example. She did eventually get her glow up, though!
11. He definitely looks like a fighter.
From being found in our woodshed two years ago with wounds the vet believes was from a coyote , to yesterday a happy healthy house kitty. Reddit meet chip!

Any cat who survives a coyote attack deserves some recognition. That recognition, preferably, should be in the form of adoption and lots of food and care.
12. Care goes a long way!
Its been a year :)
byu/Ilaria-condizionata inBeforeNAfterAdoption
By the looks of the first photo, it’s a surprise this one even survived. That scrawny, dirty ball of a helpless kitten is now someone’s friend. Love makes quite a huge difference, doesn’t it?
All these adoption stories are heart-melting and an absolute joy to read. If you have adopted pets, why not remind them how much you love them right now, and give them a treat and some cuddles?
