Christopher Ingraham and his family recently adopted a bearded dragon lizard whom they named Holly.

Holly loves eating crickets. She loves it so much that she can easily consume 10 crickets. To avoid an angry and hungry Holly is to stock up on her favorite meal.

Ordering a box full of crickets, Christopher didn’t know that this would lead to his home full of live crickets.

On his Twitter account, Christopher recounted the funny story of how he accidentally unleashed 250 crickets inside his family home which left his wife in despair and his Twitter followers laughing their hearts out.

Christopher and his family live in a rural area in Minnesota. For them to stock on Holly’s cricket supply, they had to drive at least two hours out and back from their home to the nearest pet shop.

Instead of driving from Minnesota to North Dakota, Christopher decided to order online. He ordered 250 crickets from Fluker Farm which is an established online insect vendor.

The package arrived on Friday. It was placed inside a six-inch-square box emblazoned with the words “Live Insects” and decorated with life-size cricket silhouettes.

Christopher has never ordered crickets online before. He thought they were placed in a sealed bag. Well, he was wrong!

Opening the cardboard flaps, he was greeted by dozens of beady little cricket eyes staring eagerly up at him.

The funny part is they started to hop!

Quickly closing the flaps, he retaped the box and placed it inside the bathroom adjacent to the kitchen. He still had to pass a story to his editor, so he’ll get back to it in a few.

Putting the crickets in the cabinet above the toilet, he closed the door and went back to work.

For 20 minutes, everything was quiet.

Until Briana, his wife, spoke: “Where do these crickets keep coming from?”

Ignoring it, he continued to work, until he heard the frantic cricket noises from the kitchen. Standing up, he went to the kitchen and spoke to his wild-eyed wife eyeing the crickets.

“So uh, remember when I said I ordered some crickets?” I said. “They got here toda–”

“YES, I SEE THE CRICKETS ARE HERE,” she said. “WHY ARE THEY ALL OVER THE KITCHEN?”

“Huh,” I said. “That is weird. Let me check something.”

Opening the door to the bathroom, the sight before him was enough to put a shock on his face.

There were crickets. Everywhere.Crickets on the floor. Crickets on the walls. Crickets in the sink. Crickets in the toilet.

Apparently, he opened the box on the wrong side, despite the presence of large arrows indicating the proper side with an all-caps warning that read, “SEE INSIDE FLAP FOR CARE INSTRUCTIONS!”

Running to the shed, he grabbed a spare tank, brought it back to the bathroom, and started scooping crickets inside the tank.

“I make this information public because if I do not send any tweets tomorrow, it is because my wife murdered me after finding a cricket in our bed in the middle of the night.”

The next day, he reported by sending this message:

“I’m happy to report that as of Saturday afternoon, I am alive. The lizard is well-fed. The cats are sleeping deeply. The Ingraham household is finally still.

But something’s chirping in the bathroom.”

His followers on Twitter were laughing at his hilarious tale! Here are some of their response:

Christopher’s cricket incident was truly hilarious. We do hope that the next time he orders online, he’d read the labels on the box.
