The touching moment a rescue dog finally gets her first bath

When the WOOF Pet Rescue Society in Oklahoma first adopted Blossom, she was in really bad shape.

The sad dog was found on the porch of an abandoned house. A few locals had tried to catch her so they could find her help, but she was heavily resisting them. Eventually, a woman named Erika told called the Pet Rescue and some employees came over to check out the situation.

The rescue team tried to capture Blossom, but she was not cooperating with them.

“It wasn’t an easy catch, she did not want to be on the catch-pole and fought us all the way to the crate that we had waiting, but once secure in the crate she settled down and by the time we got to WOOF she was happy to be near us and although still cautious, seemed to be relaxed enough to enjoy some human contact,” WOOF wrote on Facebook.

Eventually, they were able to safely bring Blossom to the rescue’s main facilities. The veterinarian on staff found a bad case of mange, but thankfully the dog did not suffer any horrible injuries. The vet determined that with a lot of love and care, she would make a full recovery.

After the doctor’s visit, Pet Rescue’s staff took her for a bath. This was most likely the very first bath in Blossom’s entire life!

She was a bit nervous at first, but she eventually started to relax and trust the staff members who were caring for her. She even started enjoying the process!

After they had finished giving her a bath, she stayed in the tub for a few minutes, relaxing and contemplating life…just like humans do in the shower! Blossom clearly enjoyed her bath and she looked like a rockstar afterward as well.

Blossom stayed at the rescue for a few more weeks.

The staff had to give her medicated baths twice a day in order to treat her mange. Soon, her fur started to grow back, shiny and healthy. During her stay, Blossom also began coming out of her shell – she loved the staff members and the other dogs at the shelter.

She made best friends with one of the families who assisted in her rescue.

They visited as often as they could, and they quickly fell in love with her. Blossom also loved them and was excited whenever they would come in for a visit.

After her treatment was complete, the family volunteered to adopt her! Everyone was so excited about the addition to their family, and Blossom as very happy to finally have a forever home.

Blossom is doing great in her new home. She enjoys napping on the couch and playing fetch with her human brother and sisters. I’m sure she still loves bath time!
