Rescuers cut away heavy matting from tiny critter and find adorable senior dog

Dogs are one of the most loyal and loving animals in the world, that is why we call them “man’s best friend.”

However, this world is often cruel to them. These poor innocent creatures are maltreated by people, sometimes, even by their owners.

Then there are those waiting to rescue them.

Worst of all, they are being slaughtered in some countries where the dog meat trade is illegally done.

“We don’t deserve dogs.”

Despite all these sad truths about dogs, they still continue to give us unconditional love and unparalleled loyalty.

Thankfully, more and more private groups, non-profits, and even simple individuals around the globe are stepping up to save these homeless, sick, and maltreated dogs.

One of the many kindhearted people with a huge heart for dogs is Valia Orfanidou from Greece.

She works for Save a Greek Stray.

It’s an organization that tries to prevent animals from being mistreated.

In one of their recent rescues, they found a 13-year-old dog that was in terrible condition.

The senior dog’s name is Julian and he was completely matted with hair and covered in all sorts of dirt.

They found the poor dog when his elderly owners passed away. With nobody to take care of him, Julian was left to survive on his own on the sidewalk.

It’s hard to believe that he was still alive.

The poor senior dog was so thickly matted that he find it very difficult to move.

Apart from being partially immobilized, Julian also suffers from cataracts, is partially deaf, and has a heart condition.

Despite his terrible condition, everyone including Julian himself believed that there was still a lot of life in him.

That’s why he didn’t give up after being abandoned, he knew that someday, somehow, he would be rescued.

His rescuers wanted nothing but for him to fully recover and make sure he would live happily for the rest of his life.

They were determined to make it happen.

Their first mission was obviously to get him cleaned for he was almost unrecognizable because he was covered in deep dirt.

Julian’s fur was matted with dirt and poop.

There were even humongous bugs living within the clumps of hair. It was almost impossible to get his face out – it was truly horrible.

Nobody knew how long Julian had been in such a condition. It took them about four hours just to remove the poor senior dog’s heavy fur coat.

The amount of fur that was removed from Julian was unbelievable, it’s most likely because of being exposed to all sorts of dirt in the open.

Even passers-by in front of the clinic where the senior dog was groomed couldn’t help but ask what the clump of fur was.

Little did they know, it was a dog all along. It’s just so hard to figure out since his face could be barely seen.

Eventually, they got Julian groomed and cleaned.

Day by day, the gloomy and immobilized dog slowly turned into a jolly senior pooch – Julian learned how to be a dog again.

He’s an adorable pooch.

He was soon given all the love in the world by allowing him to do whatever he wants to do.

Ultimately, all they wish is for Julian to find his new forever home and family, however, considering his age and heart condition, the search could become quite a challenge.
