Rescuers find sick puppy clinging to life in litter-strewn puddle in the nick of time

It’s no secret that surviving on the streets as a stray animal is incredibly tough, and the rescue stories of some pets are just absolutely remarkable. The following story of this poor puppy is definitely one of them.

It’s a miracle this pup even made it out alive.

The pictures really tell more than a thousand words: this puppy is in an absolutely terrible condition and calls a dirty, litter-filled puddle her ‘home’.

The dog, named Jeevith, was found cowering in a disgusting city puddle in India.

Her condition was terrible – just look at those thin bones and her matted fur, completely covered in dirt. This stray dog looked like she hadn’t eaten in weeks and was just waiting to die.

Luckily, someone spotted the four-footer and wanted to try and get her some help.

The passerby posted a couple of pictures on Facebook, hoping that some animal organization would see it and try and help the puppy out. It didn’t take long before the post went viral.

Plenty of people made sure a vet in the area came to check her out.

For the first time in a very long time, at least things were looking a little bit brighter for this four-footer. The animal organization KAW, Kannan Animal Welfare, sent a couple of volunteers to check out the ditch where Jeevith was staying, hoping that it wouldn’t be too late.

It certainly looked like the poor dog didn’t have much time left.

Luckily, they were able to find her and immediately rushed her to the veterinarian.

While the medical check-up was definitely needed, it also revealed the extent of Jeevith’s injuries – and they’re pretty horrifying to even read. She was in danger of losing her life and had to be put on an IV for three hours, completely unable to move.

Tragically, her right eye couldn’t be saved as it was eaten by maggots.

It’s absolutely horrendous how it all transpired. Jeevith was dealing with flies who decided that her fur was the perfect location to lay eggs, and when the maggots hatched, they started eating away at her body and her face – all while Jeevith was still alive.

Combine that with the horrible malnourishment, and it’s not hard to understand why this dog was saved in just the nick of time.

Though recovery was incredibly hard, Jeevith became a little bit stronger day after day.

With doctors looking after her and being provided with plenty of food and water, slowly but surely she started coming out of the woods.

After a couple of days, she was even able to walk independently again.

The transformation that she’s made is absolutely incredible.

She looks nothing like the pictures in that dirty puddle.

Jeevith’s recovery was going very well, but the good news didn’t stop there. There were already people expressing their interest in adopting her, and she actually managed to find a loving forever home not too long after.

Just look at her beautiful fur now!

Even though she will never fully be able to recover from her injuries and traumas, she now has a happy life ahead of her with a loving family.

Jeevith is a beautiful reminder of why animal lovers should adopt, not shop.
