Rescuers try to save puppy from tiny cage but owner rejects them because ‘pup likes it’

As pet owners and animal lovers, we are supposed to do what is best to ensure our canine companions experience the best lives possible.

It can be heartbreaking and frustrating to witness some pet owners not giving their dogs what they need to be happy.

Dogs need exercise, love, regular veterinarian checkups, and a healthy diet to be happy.

Denying them these basic needs is cruel and criminal behavior.

PETA fieldworkers discover a puppy in a tiny cage.

When PETA fieldworkers found Capone, he was in a tiny wire crate. It was about the size of a small box. He did not have enough space to move around.

That tiny crate was where he spent most of his time.

In the small amount of time that Capone wasn’t confined to the tiny cage, he was left tied to a porch. He didn’t have much room to move around there either.

Capone was being denied the basic necessities he needs to be happy.

Capone’s conditions were deplorable.

Not only did Capone not have much room to move around, but he was also forced to drink dirty water from a filthy plastic container.

He was also constantly exposed to the elements as he was forced to always stay outside.

PETA attempts to improve Capone’s conditions.

The PETA fieldworkers attempted to help Capone by filling his crate with straw and hay. This would, at least, provide Capone with a bit of warmth while he slept.

PETA also approached Capone’s owners and said they could provide a better life for the dog. The owner callously responded that Capone “liked it in there.”

Imagine how frustrating that would have been to hear, knowing the horrible conditions the small dog was being forced to endure.

The fieldworkers did not give up on Capone.

The fieldworkers would not give up on the small dog. They wanted to give him the life he deserves, one with room to move around, a warm place to sleep, and a caring home.

They would deliver treats to him when they could but eventually, they would be able to do much more.

Capone’s owner’s health worsened and they entered hospice care. The family then agreed to let PETA take Capone and give him a better life.

Capone is free and happy.

Capone was adopted and now lives in Florida. He has everything he needs to be happy and it shows.

Imagine being confined to a tiny cage or tied to a porch for your entire life and then being given room to run, friends to play with, and a loving family. The joy Capone feels must be immense, and he deserves every bit of it.

Capone has the happiness he deserves.

Capone even has a sister named Luna, another dog who lives with the family. Luna is teaching Capone all the things he missed out on in his early years.

We’re sure Capone loves having a big sister to help him adjust to his new life too.

Capone likes to run around in wide-open spaces and soak in the Florida sunshine. He’s living his best life and it’s all thanks to some fieldworkers from PETA who never gave up on him.

Capone’s new family has renamed him, Apple Jack.
