Retired teacher gives a peek inside her beautiful 399 sq ft tiny home that has 13 ft ceilings
Charlene’s house might make you consider getting a tiny home once you retire.
She’s a retired teacher and a widow for a few years and was in charge of caring for their 50-acre lot.
This seemed too much for her, so she decided to downsize, bought a tiny house, and settled in Austin, Texas.
Her home is a perfect place to relax and enjoy retirement while getting rid of paying mortgages.
It may not be the fancy, big home you’re used to, but it could have everything you need.
It looked cozy, and she prioritized the things she needed while being at peace with letting go of the things she didn’t need.
The kitchen was one of the main rooms that were non-negotiable for her.
It was the kitchen of her dreams. Charlene wanted a galley kitchen because she and her late husband used to be sailors and worked around galley kitchens all the time.
This is the setup that’s most familiar and comfortable for her.
The only change she made was to remove the oven because she doesn’t find the need to bake or broil huge servings, and she has a smaller tabletop oven for that.
Instead, she added more storage in her kitchen; you can tell she never wanted to skimp on this!
Her bedroom looks divine with that rustic design, plus that cedar accent wall.
It has a queen size bed, and even with that, she still has a lot of clearance space to walk around it.
But what made this room so perfect were the identical closet spaces big enough to accommodate her clothes and cleaning supplies.
Plus, that sliding door was a space-saver!
You’d be amazed at the space she has in the bathroom.
It’s a mid-sized bathroom with a standard sink and toilet, and Charlene chose a shower over a tub because she didn’t need one anyway.
Her bathroom also had ample storage space with cabinets and drawers by the vanity.
Since Charlene spends most of her time outside, her living room doesn’t need much space.
She has a television and a double recliner seat which she wanted to change to something less bulky to create an illusion that she has a bigger space inside.
She spends most of her time in the outdoor living area.
Charlene spends most of her time on her porch, where she also has a wood-burning fireplace.
You can see how she chose and positioned the seating so that she loved socializing and being with her neighbors in this space.
But here’s another cool thing in her tiny house – this side deck!
Charlene has this personal space outside her bedroom to spend some quiet time before sunrise.
She loves how it is an outdoor setup, yet it can’t be seen from the front deck.
It’s also a beautiful place to wind down at the end of the day.
