Retriever expresses serious displeasure with dad when he stops playing music

They say that music is a “universal language”, and there are countless videos and events that seem to prove it to be true. Concerts have a way of bringing people from all walks of life together in a way that unites and bonds, just as it draws more intimate groups around the campfire.

It would appear that music can break just about any barrier, including those of the inter-species variety, as this Golden retriever proved to her dad and the rest of the world.

Bailey is a music-loving Golden retriever who happens to be one of the luckiest dogs in the world. Why? Because her dad just so happens to be a musician.

Drew Cole is a talented and aspiring musician who already has a notable fan-base, but he didn’t build it on his own. His best friend had a big paw in it.

Bailey and Drew are the perfect match, and there is nothing that the retriever loves more than to listen to her dad play music.

The sweet ol’ gal isn’t just some groupie that loves every guy with a guitar, though. She’s got a superior taste in music and doesn’t mind letting her dad know what works and what doesn’t.

For instance, a video on Drew’s YouTube account shows him playing a Beatle’s tune for Bailey. She seems to enjoy it at first, but the minute he starts to sing she just gets up and walks away. A cold criticism, but constructive nonetheless.

That isn’t the case in the video at the end of this article, though.

This time around, Drew spares himself the heartache of his dog’s criticism and doesn’t sing. He’s only playing an upbeat riff on his acoustic guitar, but it’s clear that Bailey LOVES what she’s hearing.

As she sits and watches her dad play, she has what can only be described as an enormous smile on her face. The cutest part is that she is actually bobbing her head in rhythm with the music.

Some people might think that sounds like a stretch, which is exactly why you have to see this video for yourself. There’s no question it’s the music that’s making this dog bob to the beat. How are we so certain?

The very second that her dad stops playing for a moment, Bailey stops with it, and by “stop” we mean FULL STOP.

The video is just over a minute long, but it’s plenty long enough to see just how much music really means to Bailey. Her dad continued playing and then would stop again. Each time he did, he got the instant reaction of Bailey’s all-too-serious disapproval.

The video, which is absolutely hilarious, has pulled in over 14 million views and is a big part of how Drew got his start in the music industry.

Bailey unintentionally catapulted my music into to the public eye,” sais Drew.

To say that his dog “catapulted” his career is no exaggeration.

With all the attention that Drew received from his doggy guitar-tease video, which he uploaded in 2011, he ended up competing on “Team Adam” on season 14 of The Voice. He made it to the final 24 before being cut from the show, but that was only the beginning of his music career.

He is still playing today and has many fans that still love what he’s putting out there. Bailey, on the other hand, is sadly no longer in the audience.

In January of last year, Drew announced with a heavy heart that Bailey had passed away.

Hey everyone, sad news. The star of ‘Golden Loves Guitar’, Bailey, passed away this morning. In 2011, I uploaded a minute and 22 second video to youtube that captured her human-like reaction to my guitar playing. It went viral – with 14 million views and counting. When people say that animals have greatly impacted their lives, it rarely carries the weight that this dog had on mine. Bailey unintentionally catapulted my music into to the public eye and for that I’m eternally grateful. She’s now in doggy heaven bobbing her head to music forever. Bailey had a great life and I thank you all for being a part of it in some way. We will always remember her and the joy she gave theworld,” he captioned the announcement.

Bailey may not get to be in the audience when her dad plays her favorite music anymore, but we know without a doubt that she will always be his number one fan. To see the video of a Golden retriever kickstarting her dad’s music career, watch the video below and check out Drew’s music channel.
