Rod Stewart is fixing potholes in his town since ‘no one can be bothered’
Sir Rod Stewart is a musical legend known for his distinctive raspy voice.
This British rock and pop singer-songwriter carved his name into the industry, and his discography spanned decades.
So, what is he up to these days?
Believe it or not – fixing potholes.
No, he’s not working full-time for the National Highways as a road construction worker, but he and his “crew” attempted a career shift for one day, and I’m not kidding.
In fact, he posted it himself.
In his viral Instagram video, the rock icon didn’t don some leather pants or any flashy clothes.
He wore a reflective construction vest with a black tracksuit underneath and mint green sneakers.
It’s not the most flattering OOTD out there, but it was by necessity that he had to go out in public like this.
In his first video, you could see him standing behind a truck full of gravel.

Rod was shoveling it to the ground to fill the potholes in the road, saying, “I’m repairing the street where I live because no one can be bothered to do it.”
Apparently, he was pushed to take action after complaining about this to the proper authority.
He said that this road had been in this sorry state for years, and no one bothered to go and fix it.
Rod’s second video explained that the potholes had become a massive inconvenience to drivers.
He shared that an ambulance once passed by the road and burst its tire as it hit a pothole.
There’s no way to avoid the potholes because they’re all over!
No matter how hard you try maneuvering your car so you won’t fall into it, you just can’t because there’s another one ahead.
The video got over 90,000 likes, and people applauded his actions.
People saw this as a form of community service to help the neighborhood.
Imagine that one of its biggest casualties was an emergency vehicle.
What if they had to transport someone to the hospital? It would be most unfortunate!
However, the authorities reminded the public that matters like these should be handled by those in charge.
Essex Highways issued a statement saying that while they appreciate Sir Rod Stewart’s efforts, citizens shouldn’t fix the roads themselves because it can put themselves and others in danger.
Essex County Cabinet Member Lee Scott also said that road potholes should be reported to the council so they can fix the road themselves.
However, according to Essex Highways, “the timescale for the repair depends on the risk assessment and which type of road the pothole is on.”
News5 interviewed some drivers, and they welcome any repair that could ease their driving.
Most of them could attest that it’s been a huge challenge to drive that road in Harlow, and, at times, it isn’t even passable.
They feel like Sir Rod Stewart did an excellent service to the community, although one said it would still be better if it were done properly or professionally.
