Ron Howard wed his teen sweetheart in 1975 and they still adore each other and go on dates
Over the years, we have been used to seeing celebrities marrying their partners, then a few years ago splitting up and, eventually remarrying someone else- sometimes more than one.
And it’s only normal. Especially when it comes to couples who started dating when they were teens, and got married at a very young age, it makes sense to take different ways growing up and then divorce sometimes looks like the only option.
Many people say that high school sweethearts won’t stay together for long and, indeed, in some cases it is true.
But, thankfully, there are also those who prove them wrong and make us believe in true love, even the love that starts at the tender age of 16.
That’s when world-renowned actor and filmmaker Ron Howard and his wife Cheryl first met.
The teens were in the 11th grade when they first met, and they soon arranged their first date.
On November 1, 1970, Ron and Cheryl went out on their first date.
They went to the movies, and then had some pizza. Well, that’s what we call a good start!

Fifty two years later, the couple is still together.
They have raised their four children together, and they still never miss a chance to remind each other of just how lucky they are to have them.
With four grown-up kids, and a busy schedule, one might think that they just don’t have time to spend with each other or that they don’t still enjoy each other’s company as much as they did five decades ago.

This is not true, however. As the actor himself shared on social media, his relationship with his wife is still very much alive and they still enjoy spending time with each other more than ever.
Every so often, Howard posts photos of him and his wife going on walks together, traveling abroad, and simply enjoying everyday life just like any other couple does.

On November 1st, when the couple was celebrating their ‘first date’ anniversary, Howard shared a picture of them from when they were still teens and publicly expressed his love for Cheryl after all these years.
“What a journey. Today we’re blessed w/4 amazing kids & 6 incredible grandkids & still goin’ on some pretty great dates, too” he wrote on Instagram.
A few years ago, he confessed his love for Cheryl on Twitter on their anniversary.

“Today is the anniversary of our 1st date. Cheryl and I were 16. I’m forever grateful,” he wrote at the time.
The couple got married in 1975, and they have four children together, while they also have grandchildren.
Their eldest daughter is also a successful actress in Hollywood.
In an interview, Howard said that their relationship “shouldn’t have worked” because they were very young when they first met, and they were still young when they got married.
But it seems that they have actually always belonged together.
What an amazing love story.
