Mom posts picture of “rude” sign posted on her child’s daycare door

Everyone wishes that they could just say it like it is sometimes. The managers of one daycare did that with its message. But do you think they went too far?

Juliana Farris Mazurkewicz was picking her daughter up from daycare one morning when she saw something shocking.

The daycare had put up a sign on its door addressed to all of the parents. The message was pretty blunt.

In fact, Juliana thought that she should upload the message to her Facebook page.

The note told all of the parents to GET OFF YOUR PHONE!!!! Yes, in all caps, in bold and underlined.

It then went on to explain why it was so important for parents to be paying attention when they were picking up their kids:

Basically, the message went on to explain that when children left daycare, they were really happy to see their parents.

They wanted to show off the things they’d been making. But sadly, too often, the parents were distracted by their phones.

The message also ended with the words, “It is appalling. Get off your phone!!”

You have to admit, those are some sharp words.

And the people online started reacting to it in no time. Juliana’s original post has since gained over 2 million shares. It also has more than 143,000 reactions and 19,000 comments.

The people have had mixed reactions to the post. Some have wholeheartedly agreed:

While others have criticized it for being rude.

And a lot of people are somewhere in the middle.

They believe that the message makes a good point but could have been worded more sympathetically.

It’s pretty easy to understand why people have differing opinions on this message.

If Americans love to do one thing, it’s disagree loudly with each other. And some parents are legitimately busy. When they’re picking their children up from daycare, sometimes they’re doing it while juggling a whole load of other responsibilities.

But let’s face it, while the daycare message is blunt, it does come from a good place.

Parenthood flies by. And when your kids have outgrown daycare and school, they’ll never ingrow them again. It’s important to appreciate your kids while they’re still kids.

Just think, do you want to look back on your child’s early years and only remember the glare of a phone screen? That’s what the message is trying to say.

And there is a lot of wisdom in that message, if you look at the facts. For instance, just look at a list of the things that parents wish they had done differently. It’s full of phrases like, “I wish I was more affectionate,” “I wish I had made the special occasions more special,” and, “I wish I was less serious.”

Of course, these phrases all apply to phone addiction.

Yes, technology is a wondrous thing.

We can manage our lives with black rectangles that fit into our pockets. But we shouldn’t let those rectangles take the important moments from us!

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if you think the daycare was being rude. What matters is enjoying your and your children’s lives.

Now get off the phone and go play with your kid.

Please SHARE this with your friends and family.
