Run-down cat knocks on woman’s door hoping to find help

When an animal needs help, we have a responsibility to help them! It’s all too easy to forget that we humans are animals ourselves! Besides, the reward for helping an animal in need is often more than we would ever expect.

Last Valentines Day, one woman ended up saving the life of an animal looking for some help.

It was the middle of February in Canada. In other words, it was FREEZING cold and blustery outside. Snow blanketed everything, and no human would be outside unless they absolutely needed to be.

While the woman was sitting in her home, however, she heard a sound at the back door.

It was the soft sound of an animal crying! Following the noise, the woman traced it to her back door and was confronted by a heartbreaking sight. The source of the noise was a little cat sitting on her porch.

The cat was staring into the glass door and pawing at it in a last-ditch effort for help.

It was ice-cold, and the face of the cat said it all. The poor tabby had the look of a cat who was ready to die. It was the saddest sight she had ever seen, and she knew that she just had to help.

Thankfully, the cat picked the perfect house!

The woman was a volunteer for a local cat shelter, Un Chat a la Fois! They took in kittens and cats and nursed them back to health until they could find a new home. The woman called the head of the operation, Marie Simard, and asked for help.

“She said she knew we were not taking adult cats and was looking to help him. As soon as I saw the picture it broke my heart, and I told her to take him to our partner clinic so he could be evaluated.” – The Dodo

When they finally brought him inside, he was nearly defeated.

Many cats who have been living on their own aren’t too fond of human interaction, but this kitty seemed to know that he wasn’t going to make it if he didn’t get help. Once he got to the shelter, they started their examination.

The cat was in really rough shape.

He had obviously been the victim of in-fighting between other cats and had infected bites and scratches all over. His fur was covered in fleas and ticks and was constantly itchy. To top it all off, he had frostbite, and his teeth were rotting and falling out, and he had diabetes that needed treatment.

If this cat didn’t get help immediately, he wouldn’t have made it.

Despite being completely exhausted, the once sad cat was happy to be getting help. Even though he came from the streets, he just wanted the love and affection of the volunteers! They eventually named him Aslan after the book series “The Chronicles of Narnia”.

Aslan recovered quickly and eventually found a home!

He initially went to a foster home, but after staying with them, they knew that they would keep him. He was just too loving and amazing! The new home even included another cat that Aslan treated like a sibling.

“He would just sleep next to her, groom her and she would groom him,” Simard said. “It made sense to have them stay together — two rescue cats who had a tough life.”
