The way they do it is not only by dancing. They also wear beautiful, traditional costumes in honor of the beauties of rural Russia.

Building incredible scenery, the Berezka Dance Ensemble has captivated Europe. With shows in different nations of the so-called Old Continent, Beryozka has become an unexpected success. After all, these types of dance troupes only tend to be popular among a tiny group of people.

But the main reason why Berezka Dance Ensemble is so famous is because of its magical floating technique.

We’re talking about a type of dancing where dancers seem to float in the air!

Far from performing the typical stomping and split jumps, the troupe performs in long gowns.

Founded by Nadezhda Nadezhdina, Beryozka is unique because of the way it managed to innovate like no other dancing group. What’s even better is that the troupe innovated their technique while maintaining the essence of Russian dance.

In different interviews, the founder and choreographer has said that Beryozka doesn’t only perform folk dances.

“Beryozka’s dances are not folk dances. They are dances whose source is the creative work of the people. But these dances are composed by me,” Nadezhdina explained.

About the floating technique, he has also said that not every dancer is able to perform it.

“You have to move in very small steps on very low half‐toe with the body held in a certain corresponding position,” the founder and choreographer pointed out.

In one of Beryozka’s most famous videos on YouTube, you can watch how the group mesmerized the audience during the first part of their performance.

After some elegant and well-synchronized movements, the female troupe seems to float in a sublime circle.

During their whole show, the Berezka Dance Ensemble hypnotizes not only the audience but also the YouTube viewers. We’ve all been glued to the screen, trying to watch their feet to see how they’re able to achieve this stunning effect.
