Dogs are one of the cutest and adorable pets one can have. They are extremely intelligent, lovable, playful, and loyal. It’s having a miniature best friend whom you can play with and share your stories.

Dogs are also very sensitive pets. They love cuddling and playing with humans. Hence, they feel sad when they aren’t able to go out and interact with others.

It’s the same way with us. Hence, the quote no man is an island. It didn’t help that the pandemic forced most of us inside our own homes.

With us worrying over our health and living inside our own homes, it can affect our mood and mental state. It wasn’t only us who have felt the heartbreak of not being able to interact with our friends.

This three-year-old English bulldog from Atlanta does, too.

Big Poppa, an adorable and playful dog, went viral after posting a photo of him sadly hunched by his apartment balcony.

His mom, Rashida Ellis, snapped the picture last month and shared it on Twitter.

“Big Poppa has been so sad today, I think he miss playing with the kids in the building. He just watches them from the patio,” she wrote.

Big Poppa is a very friendly and sociable dog. He loves to interact with anyone in the neighborhood. He would bark, cuddle and play with the people.

He especially loves to play with the kids in his building. Whenever he goes outside, he would always with them.

Bulldogs love to be social and make great companions for large, active families. They don’t do well in isolation and should not be left alone for long periods of time.

No wonder Big Poppa missed his friends. He has to stop his usual playdates with the children.

“Mornings on the weekend when we walk or early evenings, there is usually a child playing in the courtyard or riding a skateboard in the garage,” Rashida told The Dodo.

“He loves it, especially if they have a ball or a skateboard or on a scooter. He will try to get it and play on it but he’s too small. They usually let him attempt and also give him plenty of rubs.”

Big Poppa loves his playdates with the children. However, he hasn’t been able to play with them due to the pandemic.

“The sad thing is we have to social-distance even him,” Rashida told BuzzFeed News. “When he’s inside, he just walks out to the patio looking for people. He’s sleeping more. He’s a little sluggish. I can tell he’s not as happy and excited as he usually is. He’s probably tired of just me playing with him.”

When Rashida captured the photo, she heard Big Poppa whining from the patio. Checking him, she saw Big Poppa sitting and staring longingly at the two brothers in the courtyard. But, he was too far away for them to hear him.

“He kept making noises to get their attention, but we’re six stories up and they can’t hear him,” Rashida said. “I was like, Oh my god, he’s really sad.”

Big Poppa had to sadly watch them from his balcony. Taking a photo of him, Rashida didn’t expect that it will go viral.

Checking her phone the next day, she was shocked that Big Poppa attracted thousands of followers. They sent their love for Big Poppa and sympathized with him.

Rashida believes that many people can relate to Big Poppa.

“I think when people look at that photo, we can all relate right now. We can’t do the things that we used to do, we can’t hang out with our friends,” she said.

“I think it just happened to be this dog — and not only is he so sad and cute and you want everything to change for him, but you want everything to change for yourself, too, because we’re all in this situation.”

Don’t worry Big Poppa, together we’ll get through this pandemic.
