Corgi devastated over passing of her 7 pups until she meets a kitten with the same fur

We may think that just because dogs are almost always separated from their puppies, they have little attachment to them. This story proves otherwise.

Irma, a corgi, was pregnant to 7 puppies.

But Johanna, Irma’s owner, instantly sensed something was wrong when Irma started to labor at home. So she rushed Irma to the veterinary clinic where it was found that she would need to undergo an emergency cesarean section.

Despite the efforts of Johanna and the vet team, sadly, all seven of the puppies didn’t make it.

This made Irma extremely depressed.

The distraught corgi was taken home by Johanna, but nothing seemed to cheer her up. She was obviously inconsolable about the death of her babies. She had been getting ready to become a mother, but the opportunity was swiftly taken away.

As per Johanna, her mood remained to be “dramatically different.”

Despite the family’s efforts, absolutely nothing would lift her spirit up.

Her human started getting incredibly worried for this might affect the health of the corgi. Johanna had an idea—she thought of using surrogacy to add some happiness back into her dog’s life. But instead of a dog, a different species was taken home to be with Irma.

A two-week-old kitten in need of a loving home was brought home by Johanna.

The cat just happened to have the same exact brown-and-white fur color as the corgi. Initially, Irma was kind of hesitant and skeptical about being around the cute little feline. I mean, what would we expect from a cat and a dog?

But then, they started to bond and form a beautiful friendship. The next thing Johanna knows is the two can no longer be separated!

Irma started caring for the kitten like she was her own.

Not only that, her energy spiked, and she got back to her old, playful self in no time. It seemed like she had found a brand new reason to live despite losing her 7 puppies.

It was no question Irma’s idea worked like a charm! It seemed like Irma just wanted to be a mom all along. We are incredibly glad her motherly instincts didn’t go to waste.

A video of the duo shows them cuddling up and playing around.

Irma would even lick her new little baby up, just like what a cat mom would do. At a glance, they actually look like they’re biologically related due to their matching furs. It takes a second, closer look to realize that they’re not even of the same animal kind.

Who said animal surrogacy is only possible with those of the same species? Irma just showed all of us that it’s not!

For Irma, love indeed knows no boundaries.

She was able to channel her grief into loving another animal who was not even her own. In a world where dogs and cats are portrayed to be enemies, here goes Irma and her baby proving all of us wrong.
