Guard dogs are common in houses, especially in the front yard.

They ward off unwanted guests and save lives. But it is rare to find a household with a rooster as a guard on the front porch.

Mail drivers are often caught off guard when they see an unusual foe.

Fred the rooster definitely fits the bill.

Ashley Taylor and her husband AJ shared a video of their front door security camera when a UPS driver had a funny incident with the rooster.

Fred thinks he is a dog.

Just like any other family dog with a life-long feud with delivery drivers, Fred shows no remorse when he encounters them too.

Fred was given to the Taylors when the original owner can no longer take care of him.

The rooster was able to adjust and get comfortable with the new house and environment.

And he also made sure that everyone around knew he was the boss.

This UPS man is learning, too.

“Fred will follow us around the yard and he even likes looking in the door like the dogs do,” Taylor shared The Dodo. “I believe he thinks he is a dog!”

Fred the rooster is often found keeping watch over the property, from the yard to the skies above.

Nothing is left unchecked.

It’s his way of making sure that his family or “flock” is safe while he is there.

Taylor added that Fred will always have to go introduce himself when a new person pulls up near their house.

One fine day, a UPS driver stopped by to drop off a package.

Fred showed up and got a bit territorial, making sure that the driver had no funny business.

Fred was watching his every move.

The staredown only lasted a few seconds but it was intense.

The driver was clearly terrified but amused by his encounter with the unusual security.

His hands were all up in the air, holding the parcels.

He started telling the rooster he was just there to deliver the packages.

Fred wasn’t buying it.

The driver slowly backed away.

And when the driver was able to deliver the package to the front door, he turned to the camera and said, “Not cool!”

The whole standoff between Fred and the UPS driver was caught on the doorbell camera.

Fred followed the delivery driver.

All the way to the front door and escorted him off the property.

The driver was still seen raising his hands after he dropped the package, slowly going away from the porch.

At the end of the clip, a chase happened when the driver tried to run into his truck.

Fred the rooster obliged and ran after the driver too. We can even hear the driver laughing while running for his dear life toward his truck.

The video made rounds on social media and got thousands of views.

Taylor had written a note on the post, “Well the UPS man met Fred the guard rooster today. Fred was born angry [and] this is just the first time we got it on camera. If anyone knows the UPS man send him my apologies.”
