Rescuers give new life to senior dog abandoned in cemetery in middle of night by owner
The Hope for Paws animal rescue organization has conducted numerous rescues but none quite like the one in this story.
When Loreta and Eldad from the organization received a text late at night about a dog abandoned in a cemetery, they knew they had to act. There are coyotes in the area and they were worried about the dog’s safety.
The problem was the gates in the cemetery were locked.
With the dog’s safety at risk, however, they decided they had to sneak in to rescue them.
A frightened senior dog is discovered.
When Loreta and Eldad got inside the cemetery gates, they found a frightened-looking senior dog.
Loreta decided to toss some food to the scared-looking girl but the dog did not immediately react. That’s when they realized that this dog was likely having a hard time seeing.
The poor dog cautiously sniffed their way to the food. The couple then scooped her up and took her straight to the animal hospital to be evaluated.
They named her Cashmere.
Her rescuers decided to name her Cashmere. When taken in for evaluation, the veterinarian determined that she was likely around 15 years of age and had limited hearing and sight.
Cashmere enjoyed a nice warm bath and a comfy blanket. She was safe thanks to the hard work and dedication of the people from Hope for Paws.
Some people would have given up when they saw the cemetery gates were locked, but not Loreta and Eldad.
Animal lovers everywhere should be thankful that good people like them are out there looking out for the well-being of abandoned dogs.
Cashmere is taken to Lionel’s Legacy Senior Dog Rescue.
The senior girl was taken to a place that was just perfect for what she needs. Lionel’s Legacy Senior Dog Rescue specializes in providing homes and adoption opportunities for older dogs like Cashmere. It was also where she made a lot of new friends.
As a 15-year-old, Cashmere might not have a lot of time left on this planet but what she does have will be shared with friends, family and love.
Eldad posted to YouTube about Cashmere’s rescue.
“Cashmere may not have a long life ahead of her, but she deserves someone who will love her to the end.”
“The cases we are dealing with are getting sadder and sadder. I don’t understand why anyone would do this to her… an old dog who can’t see well, can’t hear well, and has no way to defend herself or survive.”
Prepare for your pets to be taken care of after you die.
You are going to die someday, sorry to break that to you. Unfortunately, many pets end up being sent to shelters or abandoned in the streets after their owners die.
The Hope for Paws organization wants to make it easier for people to plan for how their pets will be cared for should something happen.
Eldad wrote a blog on the Hope for Paws website about how anyone can create a Free Will in just 20-minutes that will secure the future care of their pets in case something happens to them.
“It will take only 20 minutes of your time, and it’s something you owe everyone you love. It will give them safety, and it will give you peace of mind,” Eldad wrote.
