We have all wished, at some point, to find tons of money just lying around.

It would solve many of our financial issues, but what would you do if this happened to you?

One grandma was on her way to work when something totally unexpected happened.

Diane Gordon’s car was broken so she had to walk to work. Getting her car fixed would mean a significant cost, and the 65-year-old was not quite capable of spending that much on her vehicle at that time.

That was a year ago, and Diane still preferred walking almost three miles to and from work over the additional cost.

One snowy day, while she was on her way home, the senior saw something unusual when she stopped by a gas station to grab a bite.

Diane recalled seeing the plastic bag and curiosity made her peek into it.

She was shocked to find out that the bag was filled with a big amount of money.

“I looked down on the ground and found a plastic bag with a large sum of money in it,” she told WJBK. “When you turned it over, there was even more money.”

Can you imagine the shock she must have felt?

She was in need of cash for her car so she could skip the long walk each day, and poof! A bag filled with money is right in front of her.

What would you do if this ever happened to you?

Some people would definitely be tempted to take the money without looking for the owner, especially if the bag had no identification in it.

The grocery store worker was not tempted to take the money at all.

“This doesn’t belong to me, I need to call a police officer,” Diane recalls thinking to herself after discovering the $14,780 in cash in the plastic bag.

The woman assisted the police officers and not a long while later, the true owners of the money were traced.

The bag had cards inside indicating that the money was given to a couple who got married earlier that day.

“There were wedding cards with a name on it, and we were able to get the money back to them,” Police Chief Dan Keller of the White Lake Township Police Department shared in an interview with The Washington Post.

The cops were quite amazed at Diane’s honesty and kindness.

“She didn’t hesitate; she didn’t question it,” the police chief said about Diane. “This doesn’t happen very often, that someone finds a large sum of money and turns it in.”

Some people who are after their own benefit would not dream of returning the lost money, but Diane is different.

She knew that the money was not hers and her kindness prevailed in the situation.

She helped without waiting for anything in return, but fate had something incredible in store for her.

Stacey Connell, the wife of one of the police officers who answered Diane’s call, was deeply inspired by the kind woman.

Diane’s selflessness truly resonated with her and so, she decided to set up a GoFundMe page for the grandma.

She wanted to help Diane by raising money to buy a new car.

The response from people online was so amazing that Diane felt overwhelmed by all of the people who wanted to help her in buying a well-deserved vehicle.

The GoFundMe page has raised over $82,000 and this led the grandma to finally buy one!

Diane thinks she did not do anything special, but fate had another idea.

Her kindness and selflessness brought inspiration to a lot of people.

Diane, on the other hand, received a brand-new green Jeep Compass from a local car dealership. Wow!

What goes around really comes around, especially if you are doing something kind without waiting for anything in return.
