Service dog causes quite the stir when she delivers 8 puppies in the middle of the airport
Moma Dog Misses Flight To Philadelphia when she goes into labor at the airport.
This beautiful service dog was waiting for her flight in front of the Gasparilla Bar at the Tampa Airside when there was about to be a change in plans and it wasn’t because of a flight delay.
2-Year-Old Eleanor Rigby
Eleanor didn’t care about where she was going to deliver and she didn’t have much choice in the matter. These babies were coming and there was a whole bunch of traveling passengers stopping to watch the birth take place.
Miscalculation
The owner knew Eleanor’s due date was soon to be but thought they would get home before the happy occasion. Her delivery took three hours all in the busy hub of the airport. However, it is thought that she may have gone into labor early because of the excitement at the airport
Para-Medic Staff Assisted
The owner was so grateful for the help of the airport staff. They were rewarded with their kindness by having some of the pups named after them with the one female being called Natalie after the Paramedic that assisted with the birth.
Each Birth brought smiles and cheers from the crowd
The Final Count
Eleanor gave birth to seven puppies all were male except one.
No Flying
The whole family of dogs and the owner would like to have been able to fly back home. But, the puppies cannot fly as yet so the change of plans means driving back home.
It would not have been safe for the pups to fly and most airport rules are puppies under the age of two days old and quite often not under ten days are not allowed to fly.
Daddy Got To Watch Too
The father of the pups who is also a service dog was right there watching his babies come into the world.
The Experience
Although dogs delivering puppies is a common occurrence it is not something that everyone gets to witness. Quite often the dog owners themselves miss out on this event. The dog can deliver when nobody is home for example. Or, some want and need privacy. This dog was exceptional to remain so calm and let so many people watch.
It was a moment that brought everyone together for a treat for many who never had the opportunity to witness new life coming into the world like this.

Mixed Emotions
While many of the comments are positive ones about the experience there are some that don’t believe this was a good event.

“This is so incredibly sad!! How they are trying to “spin this” off as a heartwarming or “feel good” story.. blows my frikkin’ mind! For starters, service dogs are supposed to be FIXED so the fact that they have two on-site that aren’t.. means these do”

“When a dog is about to give birth, she’s like a human-pants, gets hot, gets uncomfortable, walks in circles. Why was the woman knowingly trying to fly with her? This could have ended terribly giving birth on a plane. Plus shouldn’t a service dog be spayed and away from other dogs? I’m glad these pups are safe.”
