Sweet dog offers to 'babysit' kittens for overwhelmed mama cat
Help can come from the unlikeliest creatures.
Stray animals are often aggressive, jittery, and anxious. They have every reason to since the streets are not really the safest places to stay, let alone raise a family.
But when this little cat was rescued, she finally felt what it was like to be cared for, and most of all, to have a friend when she needed it the most.
Banksy came to the Salty Animal Rescue when she was 2 years old.
She was stressed out and she was pregnant. The staff of the shelter deduced Banksy was abandoned and was left to fend for herself.
The situation made her anxious and scared around people. At first, she shows her feisty side toward the staff, especially after giving birth to seven kittens. In their post, they shared she gets startled easily and wasnât really fond of being cuddled.
Life was hard for Banksy but she did her best in raising her kittens.
She had to juggle between her survival instincts as a feral stray, her nurturing side to protect her babies, and the pain of being left alone. But through every step of the way, the people in the shelter provided for her needs.
And through the caring process, she also found another animal that became the unlikeliest companion for her little kittens.
The staff thought that Banksy was getting overwhelmed by being a mom.
For mothers out there, itâs an entirely relatable feeling. Itâs taking care of the kittens and making sure they are safe, but also not having enough rest.
Good thing thereâs Nood. Mama Nood, a dog of mixed breed, hangs out with Banksy often so she could distract the kittens for a bit.
The shelter described the dog as one of the hardest workers in their team. Her role in the kittensâ life is important because sheâs easing them into their future lives.
Through Nood, not only can Banksy get some well-needed rest, it also ensures the little ones are healthily socialized.
As they will be given up in the future, the kittens should know how to interact with others.
They should know how to interact with humans, other kittens, and other dogs in their forever homes. This also wasnât the first time Nood had to babysit.
âNood is a professional and has too many foster kittens under her belt to even count. Sheâs obsessed with every kitten she can get her paws on,â the shelter said in a post.
They also shared that most of the time, not all kittens from a litter are excited to play with Nood. But not Banksyâs litter! They are just too excited to play with their doggie aunt.
For now, Banksy is just waiting for someone to adopt her.
But some of her kittens have now gone to their forever homes. With Nood and the shelterâs help, the adopted kittens wouldnât have to go through what Banksy did.

The shelter also reminded people to neuter their pets. They stressed that taking care of pets is a commitment and should only be done by people who are able and willing to go to great lengths just to take care of a life.
