Sweet shelter dog latches onto a visiting reporter’s leg and refuses to let go
Dog owners know better than anyone the connection that you can develop with a dog. As social animals, dogs seek companionship from humans, which in turn can lead to a deep bond that is hard to break. Sometimes it would seem that this connection might even extend someone adopts a dog.
One rescue dog proved that this might be the case when she latched onto a reporter at the shelter to do a story.
A connection is made
As the reporter walked around the shelter, one of the dogs approached him and grabbed onto his leg. In a video of the incident, the dog is shown with her front paws wrapped around the reporter’s leg. Shocked, the reporter pats her on the head as she refuses to let go. This only encouraged the puppy.
The dog refused to let go
As the video continues, the dog, undeterred, refuses to let the reporter go. An obvious connection has been made as the reporter stands there letting this sweet dog have her moment. As it turned out, her actions changed her life that day.
Before leaving the shelter, the reporter decided to adopt her and give her a forever home. Clearly, she touched his heart with her affectionate display.
Most people were moved by the video
The video of the incident, which was posted on YouTube, has gotten over 890,000 views. Many who saw the video were moved by the connection between the dog and the reporter, and they thanked the reporter for giving the dog a home.
Can dogs tell if a person is good?
What had drawn the dog to the reporter? Maybe she could somehow detect that they were meant to be together. Dogs do tend to be a good judge of character.
So, the dog saw something in the reporter that let her know that he would always take care of her and be there for her.
Dogs are selective when it comes to who they like
A PetsWorld article touched on this fact and how a dog is very selective when they pick an owner as opposed to someone picking them as a pet.
“The canine naturally feel attracted to this individual; in some cases, said person may not singularly cater to the needs of the pet,” they wrote in their article. “Still the dog feels an instinctive affinity to his chosen master; it feels relaxed, secure, and needless to say, playful around him/her.”
